$250 Non-Refundable Deposit?

704 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Canadian Chris
I’ve been thinking of ordering a P3. Was playing with the configurator just now and noticed the deposit is now $250 non-refundable. When did this change? I am not really keen on putting $250 down on a vehicle so far out that I can’t get back. I get that it’s a hassle to refund deposits but this seems like an order deterrent. Maybe it’s just me, but I’ll wait until deliveries begin to order now, if I end up ordering at all by that point.

A while ago, even on P2. Don't know exact date but i think at least beginning of the year if not earlier. Was problematic for them with people reserving 2, 3, 4 cars.

Ah, it’s been awhile since I was in the configurator. Last I checked it had been $1000 with $50 non-refundable. Not sure if that is better or worse. Was $500 fully refundable when I bought my P2 last year.
I debated putting down a deposit, but when contacted by Polestar, they said I would have to bring the car to Vancouver for every service/issue and would not allow the Volvo dealers in Alberta to look at it. That quickly dissuaded me from ever getting one.

I feel you. I’m in Ottawa and the closest service centre is in Montréal so two hours away. That being said, still went for it (P2 that is). I think I’m within the service range though, so they should pick up my car if I need service but have yet to need it (knock on wood).
