And before your Polestar....?

Apologies if this has been done before, but I'm curious about the people who choose Polestar as a brand. I've come from Alfa Romeo, (Giulia) so we always identify with other slightly left-field choices such as Volvo, Saab (in the day) Lancia (back when...), Citroën, even Jaguar. What did Polestar owners have before and what made you change? Just curious. 🤔

Mitusbishi Mirage (1993), MINI Cooper S R53 (2005) and a Honda Accord Crosstour (2010). MINI died after 17 years of loyal service :-( and needed a car ASAP. We have the P*2 and the Honda now.

I started off with a 93 Mazda 626 (crashed), 95 Volvo 850 (someone crashed into), 98 Volvo S70 T5 (sold), 2007 Volvo S80 V8 (still have), and a 2013 Nissan Leaf (still have). The Nissan Leaf has shown me the way for going electric and the getting the Polestar 2 just seemed natural coming from a very Volvo background. The Volvo electric offerings didn’t really seem fitting for my wife as she wanted a sedan, so Polestar it is!

Between my wife and I:
2002 red Volvo V40 -> sold in 2014
2004 blue Corolla LE -> sold in 2010
2014.5 red Toyota Camry LE -> sold in 2021
2017 blue Toyota Camry LE -> sold in 2020

My vehicle listing:
1985 Ford Escort
1996 Ford Laser
1998 Isuzu 2.6 pick-up
2000 Landrover Freelander
2001 Freelander
2004 Kia Sorento
2008 Nissan Pathfinder
2013 Hyundai Elantra
2019 Kia Cerato (Forte)

My wife's Volvo S40 from 2005 was just retired from extended family only a few months ago. I can't say it was in perfect shape (doors had stopped locking, windows not winding, air con was dead etc.) but the engine was still sweet to the end!

I started to be a Volvo fan and then tried some other brands when I got a company lease option

1982 Volvo 760 GLE
1990 Volvo 760 GLE
2002 Volvo S60 AWD 2.4T
2011 Volkswagen Passat 2.0 TDI Variant (Lease)
2014 Audi A5 2.0 TDI Quattro DSG (Lease)
2017 Audi A4 2.0 TDI Allroad (Lease)
2020 Volvo V60 T8 (Lease)
2023 Polestar 2 Plus/Pilot Lite (Lease) waiting...

Tesla is probably the "smartest" choice of EV since the charging network. But I can't stand the interior of the 3 and Y. And the S is too expensive.

SInce I'm an old Volvo fan. Polestar is the closest I can get. But if the V60 would be available in a fully electric version that would be my first choice. But since Volvo thinks everyone wants a SUV.. I don't know about the V-series in the future. I'm not a SUV person (well Polestar 2 is almost a SUV but not really)

Toyota Prius 2010.
Great car, and half a EV, so was very into EV already when they stole our catalytic converter and we started looking at buying an EV instead.
Took 1,5 years of searching for the right car and then for it to arrive.
Love it it on 2.8 now, but loved it more on 2.5…

What was sweet about 2.5? I haven't got my car yet, due in 8 days and 20 minutes. 🤣

Lets not do that in this lovely thread.
I have lots of posts about it, mostly about how boring 2.7 is, so search for posts by me.
Edit: but I have a SMLR

👍 will do.
2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Raliart. Loved the car, wonderful in the snow...but last year spent up to 400€ per month on petrol, which was just too much.

Without wanting to bore you with the long list of thermal vehicles that I have had, I will say that my previous EV was a Kona Style and I change it for a Ps2 by design, matrix headlights and a little more interior and trunk space without being too big.

Switched to my Polestar after 10 years with a 2012 Chevy Volt. Loved that car for very different reasons.

The last three cars I had were all Buick Regals (2011 totaled, 2015 Turbo......loved this car.....added noisy exhaust from Magnaflow so it was fast and loud.............2018 Turbo...........TOO BIG........). I was a Service Manager for Volvo and owned a Volvo repair shop for years...............sooooooooooo VOLVO for me...........but I don't really like the C40/XC40 that much........the Polestar guys asked me why I chose to order a Polestar (the space is in a Volvo dealership) ......I told them I chose Polestar because it was specifically NOT a Tesla..........I mean I like the S but the 3 is such a mundane vehicle where the Polestar is kinda in-your-face looking......and I LOVE this car...........fun to drive and gets lots of looks especially from Tesla owners...........

This thread would make for a nice Polestar marketing survey.

All my recent cars have been European brands, ie, Mercedes, BMW and Jag. Main reasons being - (1) I like the way they look (inside and out), (2) build quality and (3) performance attributes. Not too concerned over range...as the P2 has adequate range to meet my needs. First EV for me.

After 8 months of ownership, the P2 has been rock solid, with only a couple of software hiccups that were fixed by a re-boot.

2005 BMW 120d Sport
2006 BMW 330d MSport
2015 BMW 330d MSport w/ Performance Kit
2018 BMW 440i Gran Coupe MSport

Primarily I just fancied a change after a series of beemers. Prefer more sportier and aggressive looking cars, so was drawn to the styling of the P2. After spending time looking into it, I decided to pull the trigger. Had the P2 for 12months. Not been the smoothest ownership experience, but hoping to have turned a corner now. Still love driving it though.

May sound silly, but if it wasn’t for the P2, I likely wouldn’t have jumped to own my first EV 12months ago.

A long list of cars ranging from a 1970 Impala to a 2012 Mini Countryman. But, my Polestar replaced an Infiniti G35s (and I still have an Infiniti M37 and a Saab 92x)

The Polestar is our first EV, and I got tired of spending $600 a month on gas
