Has anyone heard much info on expected delivery dates for Australia?

We've had a reservation since 2nd December 2021 but have not received any further news about when the reservation can be converted to an order.

I've seen various websites posting different statements about timing, e.g. New electric vehicles due in Australia in 2022, which states January 2022 (seems unlikely).

This morning I logged in to the polestar site and started a chat to ask about this.

The response was thorough but fairly non-commital, suggested a lead time of 12 weeks from order to delivery, and that orders will be within the first quarter of this year. Also, preconfigured vehicles will be available (suggesting a faster delivery time).

So let's say order Feb for delivery in May or March for delivery in June...

Fingers crossed for a suitable preconfigured option!

Same here though I've not even seen confirmation that any significant shipment is headed our way. There were a lot of glitches with the reservation system early on though did manage to get mine in on Nov 30 but have not seen any info release on the quantity of reservations either. I'm thinking that unless you got in very early and happened to specify one that matches, or are prepared to accept a different one, you'll have to wait a full order, build, ship deliver cycle anyway.

I took a test drive on the Gold Coast last week and haven't made a reservation yet but will do once I sort some stuff out with my current car. The guy told me to expect orders to open in Feb with deliveries 6-8 weeks later. So somewhere in April hopefully. What have you guys gone for?

I'm lookin at LR single motor with Pilot pack and towbar. I might add the Plus pack too depending on finances. I would love the nappa leather seats - oh man the nappa leather seats are so comfy - but that might just stretch the budget a little too far.

I'm coming from a Hyundai Ioniq Electric which I love but I want to be able to tow and the Ioniq isn't rated for towing here (it is in other countries).

I had my test drive mid December here in Melbourne and reserved the next day. I haven't heard anything on timing other than order books are to open mid Jan, and that there were a limited number of preconfigured cars that are coming around the same time, otherwise it will be ~3 months.

I ordered the standard range single motor with pilot and plus packs because that is really the minimum viable replacement for my current BMW, and intend on the towbar too. The reason I went SR over LR was purely for the Nappa seats.

I totally get that. The car I drove was the dual motor with Pilot, Plus and Performance pack but afterwards I sat in another car with the nappa seats and it just felt so luxurious. Worth the extra if the budget allows. I'm just working out what my budget is before reserving.

My test drive was in a LRSM with pilot, plus and nappa. Before we set off though we got to look at one with weavetech and get a feel for it. Wife absolutely hated it, I didn't really like it either, so Nappa isn't really optional for me.

I took a test drive
You're so lucky! No test drive options in WA...

Feeling slightly concerned about buying a car sight-unseen and whether there will be any service / warranty support in WA at any time soon.

We've reserved a (pretty minimal) single motor, standard range + pilot pack. We'll be going for a towbar (for a rear bike rack, rather than using roof racks). Fingers crossed the preconfigured models align.

Did anyone view the standard textile seats?

Has anyone heard any info about spaces / service support in Australia? E.g. whether PS will partner with Volvo dealerships in Oz?

I definitely feel like you need to test drive it. The centre tunnel and general cockpit feel is either "You're going to love it, or hate it" and there's nothing in between. A few of us shared our impressions on whingepool and it was definitely one or the other.

I haven't heard much about what is expected for the preconfigured models. I've been keeping an eye out, but there's not so much as a "spotted, polestars being loaded onto a ship headed for Australia"

At the pop-up here in Melbourne they only had Nappa and Weavetech.

The initial report was one space in each capital city excluding Darwin. For servicing, the Volvo dealer network will be the responsible party.

I suspect they are the same 2 cars on the tour. Dual-motor in void and LRSM in Midnight both NSW registered?
My test drive was in a void LRSM with plus/pilot/nappa. I think there's a few more, but the number is quite low.

When I had my test drive there was 3 cars I saw, I think I may have seen another one on a drive-by the week before but I can't be certain. The 3 I can be certain about though were:

  1. Void LRSM with plus, pilot, nappa
  2. Midnight (didn't catch which motor/battery as it was off to the side somewhere that couldn't be driven out easily) with plus, pilot, nappa
  3. Snow LRDM with plus and PP (probably pilot too but it was just being cleaned and moved out but they grabbed it quickly so I could see the weavetech seats)
There are probably a couple of more as I believe there was an overlap of available test drives between Sydney and Melbourne, they are all NSW registered though.

Hi all, I jumped in and reserved one on the 3rd, stupidly I waited for the email saying reservations were open rather than checking the website so I was a couple of days late to the party 😞

I'd love to get an idea of what the reservation queue is like, do we know if they use sequential reservation numbers? Mine is in the mid 3000's for the last 4 digits.

Also for anyone interested here's a photo I took of what must have been a Aus compliance model that was being tested here in June last year, it was parked across the road from a local park in Alexandria in Sydney - the paintwork was a little scratched and it had black seats, either the base fabric or weavetech, I didn't know enough to check at the time - so I doubt it was one of the testing ones!

Good point. Mine is nearer 5,000. I'd be surprised if there were 5,000 reservations - even more surprised if Polestar brought 5,000 cars here this year!

Just over 2000 for me, got in in November though was delayed by glitches with the payment system. Will be annoyed if that delay cost me an early delivery!

Personally wouldn't be surprised if there were that many reservations. The year's Ioniq 5 shipment sold in less than 4 hours, if you haven't got a deposit with a dealer for an EV6 by now you'll be out of luck and pricing hasn't even been released yet! 6 month+ waiting times for most popular ICE models, chip shortages etc etc. Personally I think if you miss out on a "pre-configured" model you're in for a long wait. :(

Well that actually looks like they may be sequential! They possibly may not be going up by 1s but they aren't allocated randomly but seem to be going up linearly.

@clivem - 2000ish November ??
@Sammy - I'm guessing your last few digits are in the low 3000's??
AusBen - 3500ish Dec 3rd
@Mooch - 5000ish I'm guessing you reserved sometime between the 4th and 15th December?
@lilstevie - 8000ish December 15ish

I did some some media reports saying they had 3000 reservations in the first 3 days which seems to roughly line up with the reservation numbers here if true.

Sorry to break your pattern but mine was only last week ;)
