So does this mean RACQ is better set up to help with our P2s than the reports of NRMA on this thread? Did you speak to the RACQ guy @Mooch?
I didn't but I have previously spoken to their marketing people about it (don't hate me. I have a good friend who used to be in marketing there - it was through him we got the truck there today actually). All RACQ trucks around Brisbane have a battery and an EV charger to get you going if you run out (for whatever reason).

With my car imminent (read: soon), I'm turning my mind to BYO cables for public charging stations.

Is 5m enough for most situations or do you need 7m or 10m? I'm guessing the longer it is, the heavier it is too, in addition to the cost.
5m has has always been enough for me. I bought a heavy 22kW 3-phase cable which I realised later was unnecessary for my Hyundai but it's better to have too much than not enough I guess! It is quite heavy though.

I noticed this morning that I scared/startled one of my coworkers when came up behind him while I was parking. I checked and it doesn't look like the AVAS is working, is it just my car or is it not turned on in Australia?
I thought that was a legal requirement? Weird that it would be disabled.

I mentioned TCAM, he googled it and then read me back the steps to follow to do a reset (word-for-word from this site I think!)
That's hilarious!
Shame after months of sitting around that the towbar predictably wasn't fitted. I asked P* support several times 'is my towbar fitted?'.
Looks like I'm getting my car on Friday sans towbar. As yet, no contact on when that will be. I do have a trailer to pick up the weekend after next and I'm keen to get some camping in so I will be harassing them - FWIW.
I wonder if we can claim an LCT reimbursal for the towbar. If your config was over LCT threshold, then the towbar would have incurred LCT.
But LCT should only be applied to extras delivered with the car.
Interesting idea. Though with the issues people have had with invoices 20c out, I wouldn't fancy the chances of getting an adjusted one without the towbar anyway - even if I thought it was possible to re-claim the LCT.

Let me know how things pan out with ya towbar Mooch , I haven’t heard anything concrete about where towbars might be (Perth/Australia/China), expected delivery times etc.

I’m also keen to get sorted as I’ve already purchased a towbar mounted bike rack and we want to sell our old car (but then I won’t be able to go mountainbiking).

I’ll share any info I get from chasing up over the next couple of days.
They still don't know the story with the tow bar. Whether it is out of stock or there is nobody to fit it, nobody actually knows.

I ended up fitting front and rear FitcamX cameras. The front is (obviously) super easy, a 5-10 minute job. Cabling and fitting the rear was 1-2 hours (for a scared first-time cabler). I was so scared of damaging the interior panels etc but in the end it worked out fine working slowly. The rear capture is okay, I expected it to be worse from a cheap camera through the rear glass.

I referenced this vid for tips on cabling to the rear, but didn’t follow the exact same route.

Not sure if it’s worth buying a rear camera, but at least it wasn’t a disaster, so no regrets. If you want to keep it simple and easy just buy the front one.
Same. I fitted mine on the first full day with the car. 5 minutes front, an hour or more to get the cables to the back. I still have to tidy the rear cable up actually. I left a bit too much slack.
:unsure:Yeah, probably not a good idea to have it on Standard on free flowing 110km motorways.
Maybe lucky I was too chicken to try it out before I got home.:giggle:
Looks like a good plan.
I leave OPD on Standard all the time. Mind you I use ACC constantly too. In my Hyundai the lane keeping was awesome but either Pilot Assist is nowhere near as good or I just haven't figured it out yet. In the Hyundai I left it on always but in the PS2 I'm turning it off except on motorways.
Good day to sleep ou all down under folks! Have a great day. Is it fall there? I hear it beautiful now?! Take care
Yeah fall / autumn here. Cooling down nicely. Best time of the year usually :)

On the efficiency side, I've averaged about 16.3 over 500+ km. This was probably 30-40% highway and the rest suburban so better than I expected to be honest. In suburbia and CBD driving I'm seeing 14s and 15s on the 'real time' meter - again better than I expected. So if I can get say 16.5kWh/100km as an average, that is going to give me ~470km range, which I'm happy with.

That’s brill

That’s brilliant range I reckon… I’m in an LRDM so I expect it’s slightly worse? Haven’t done any kms at all really so I’ll have to keep tabs.
not that I had range anxiety anyway but it’s so much better than the e-tron it’s comical, and I was relaxed about that (it averages 23-24kwh/100 btw lol)
LRDM will be a bit less but I would imagine still in the 420-440km range, depending on how much fun you have in it ;)

Haha I literally just washed it 5 minutes before, thanks!
I'm itching to wash mine because we've had some rain the last few days but they said don't wash it for 2 weeks after the ceramic coat.

Those stickers will be the first thing to come off after handover!
I might be alone in saying I actually like the stickers. It's very Polestar. Reminds me of the old Galant VR4!
You probably are 🤣

I got mine taken off straight away. I don't like stickers at the best of times and one of the things I really like about this car is that nobody knows what it is.

Out of curiosity, did the ceramic coating fill in the slight orange peel look of the void paint?
With the stickers, are they reusable after removal?
Not sure I know what you mean to be honest.

I actually forgot to ask them to keep the stickers (the mob that did the paint coat) so they are gone now. People on here (especially those with leased vehicles) said they kept their stickers between a couple of sheets of waxy paper inside a book to keep them flat.

Compared to the paint on the front and rear bumpers, which is perfectly smooth, the paint from the factory on the main body had a slight ripply texture. It took me 2 sealant/glaze coats and two synthetic wax applications to get it close to the smoothness of the bumpers. I figured that the ceramic coat might be a quicker process?
I'm gonna have to have a look in daytime but certainly it looks very smooth and glossy to me now so if there was an effect, I don't believe it is obvious now.

Towbar update: Samara called today and confirmed my towbar has been shipped to Barbagello (WA) and should arrive in a couple of days [emoji1696]
I just posted in the other thread. I'm told my towbar is about to be shipped to Brisbane, along with "a Polestar representative" which I hope means somebody who knows how to hold a spanner. I'll keep you posted.
Is it safe to assume that this car was designed without the front number plates in mind. No matter how you try the front plates look horrible on the car. Or we just need really skinny and wide front plates that can sit in the bumper area without obstructing some of the airflow vents.
My slimline plates just arrived. Just waiting for either new EV tags to arrive or for me to get to Bunnings to pick up a rivet gun and I'll get them fitted. I'll have a look at removing the plate holder though. It does look far too cumbersome to be honest.

Could that also be attributed to wet roads? BTW, how do these tyres feel on wet roads?
The rain in Brisbane has been biblical again today but the car feels totally sure-footed. Not that I've been driving like Colin McRae but getting a little bit lively doesn't seem to worry it in the wet.

Got used to OPD very quickly and really enjoy it. Still figuring out when the ACC is best to use. Don't quite trust it yet.
It is different to driving ICE. My Hyundai had 3 levels of regen (I always had it on 3) but not true OPD, so it wasn't such a leap for me. The ACC I think I just about have it figured out now after 750km. Basically I have it on almost all the time but keep my left thumb close to the cancel button for when I need to stop.
App: Simplistic which is fine but it is very flaky for me. Works when first started but when I switch back to it later it gives an error about 'Cannot initialize remote connection...'.
Are you on Android? Could it be the power saving on the phone putting the app to sleep? I've set mine to allow run in background and every time I open it, it just seems to take a second or two to refresh and it's good to go.
Good to see everybody is starting to receive and enjoy their cars! We've still been having ongoing connectivity issues, with the latest guidance from Polestar to run it down under 10% SOC then charge it back up to over 90. I presume to make sure the TCAM BUB is fully charged, which just doesn't seem logical to me given our pattern of driving and granny charging means the car is very rarely in a state of not having the 12v system actively charging.

Anyway, out of desperation I trawled all the TCAM threads yet again and ran across a process I missed the first time. Essentially perform the demister reset sequence immediately after the IHU reboot. I wasn't expecting this to do anything but surprisingly 4g returned, which we haven't seen for two weeks.

We haven't taken it for a drive yet, and not sure I'll get much chance with all the rain around today, but I'm really hoping to get a good run of working internet.
That run down / recharge does sound odd but anything would be worth a try when it just won't bloody work.

What's the demister reset? So IHU is just hold home for 30 seconds right?

Anyone here a member of AEVA by the way? We have our monthly meet out at Albion next week and I'm taking the PS2 out to show to the group.

This is 100% what I do. I've had many speeding fines and lost my licence to many times over the years, with the car so quiet I don't trust myself without ACC anymore and it has only been 2 months lol
My experience from the Hyundai is using ACC gives you better efficiency. And stops you losing you licence!

Is it worth joining? Do they have much lobbying power with govt for improving infrastructure etc?
They certainly have some and there are some members who consult into government and have good connections and we occasionally get some interesting speakers - not that the regulars are not interesting but you know what I mean :D We had Senator Rex Patrick address the group (over Zoom) a couple of months back.
I just watched some of the BNE April meeting video. New charger going in at jindalee!
Do you need to be a paid member to attend a meeting?
No I believe anyone can rock up. You pay $2 as a member and $5 as a non-member and they provide coffee / tea and snacks.

Have had my car for 10 days now, and one of the pleasant surprises for me is the efficiency I'm getting.
Every review I've seen has been a little critical of efficiency, usually quotes 20+ kWh/100km on test drive and suggesting perhaps 17 - 18 kWh would be achievable in normal conditions. Most use Tesla 3 efficiency of 13 - 14 kWh as the benchmark.
Well, I've been achieving 14-15 kWh/100k since I've had it.
This is a shot following a round trip from Maitland to Newcastle, to meet up with a few local EV face book members. Speeds of 80% 80 - 90 km/hr and 20 % 50 - 60 km/hr
TM shows higher as I haven't reset it from handover yet, so includes a lot of idle time.
Gotta be happy with 13.8kWh/100k, right. I know I am 😁

With roughly 50/50 urban / highway over ~800km so far I'm getting 17.4 but around town I'm seeing instantaneous numbers in the 14/15 range/
Just a be question here regarding regen breaking. I'm currently in Jamberoo and just drove down Jamberoo Mountain Rd. I had the regen on on standard & started the descent with 82%. Once at the bottom I had 85% however for that last stretch I started to notice the smell of something heating up and I'm wondering if the motor was overheating. Has anyone had anything similar happen? I've tried searching for info on excessive regen effects but didn't find much.
I used to go up to Toowoomba quite regularly in the Ioniq and never experienced anything like that. Haven't done it in the PS2 yet though.

Towbar update. Got this today.
I have been advised you will be contacted to schedule your tow-bar fitting very soon directly from our Specialists, as your tow-bar kit has now arrived in Queensland.
So hopefully that means a call this week to be fitted next? Watch this space.
When is the meeting on? Wouldn't mind coming along if I have no conflicts 👍

Edit: Looks like it's on Wednesday night judging from the site.
This Wednesday, 7 for 730 at the Albion Peace Centre.
I looked at that AEVA site and it seems the NSW chapter has either disbanded or no one is interested in it anymore. The last meeting they had was in Dec 2021 and they have nothing slated for this year at all.
Oh wow. QLD for sure is very active (along with a whole bunch of regional sub-branches), TAS and WA are also very active. Haven't really taken any notice of the others but I guess if I haven't noticed them it could well mean they haven't done much of note!

Towbar installed today! The towbar looks cool, the electronic pop-out / release is cool-as.

Unfortunately they’ve installed a towbar with a Euro 13 pin plug, not an Australian standard 7 pin plug which is frustrating and means I can’t use it (yet).
Bloody hell! Did they say anything about it - like is this the normal fitment or they got shipped the wrong part or something? Are they going to change it or do you just need to get an adapter?

Also where did they fit it? At home or did you have to take it in? Apparently my towbar is in QLD and I'm just (still) waiting on the call to get it installed. I just checked my trailer and (of course) it has the standard 7-pin.

EDIT: Wait! Do you mean the round plug like this one? 😲 😲 Jesus!
