If there is a way of Polestar making something that should be very simple incredibly difficult, you can be sure they will have achieved this goal.

I think they have a specialist team dedicated to making our lives miserable.

Haven’t even been to look at the new ones yet.

 

Mine just immediately fails - as soon as I tap 'Set up digital key' it says 'unable to set up digital key' doesn't even try.

I'm hardly surprised...

 

Mine does the same with a little dab of this message added to the top for good measure!

 

That wasn't my experience at all. With both old and new phone setup with the Polestar app and ready to go, I deleted my car key from the Wallet on the old phone. Then I received an email from polestar suggesting to add a car key with my new phone. I entered the car with my Keycard. While sitting in the car, I chose my profile, and clicked on the Wallet link in the email from my new Phone. The Wallet app asked me if I wanted to set up a new PAK for the car, and that was it. There were some notifications in the car saying a new PAK had been successfully added. I was really impressed how easily this worked.

 

Aha - fantastic, thanks. That worked perfectly! A very smooth process indeed, couldn't have been any easier.

So, critical advice for everyone - delete the key from the Apple Wallet on your old phone before you wipe the phone...

I'm finding it a lot more responsive than the iPhone 16 so far. Used to have to hang around the handle like an idiot for 10-20s but for now it's opening on approach.

 

In my case it says all the time it cannot create the digital key. In the phone after trying to connect to the car it fails. I’m sure I’m doing something wrong but I don’t know what.

 

If you have already deleted from old phone you need to do the set up with the key fob in the car again I believe and then add to profile as normal. I was struggling last night with the same issue couldn’t add. I tried then with key fob inside car just to set the Digitalkey an added to profile without key fob in the car.

 

Got it working with the card in the “reader”. All good.

I also used the card to open the car, deleted my old digital key then used the card to start the process to set it up on my 17 pro.
After that, it was straight forward. Only quirky thing I remembered from last time was to then take the card away from the car and add the digital key again to the profile which then shows up looking like a fob. After that, car has been faultless unlocking and selecting my correct profile.

 

If you get ‘incorrect code’ error just restart the infotainment, restart your phone, have a cup of coffee then try again. It worked for me lol.
Then once it’s setup on your phone make sure the apple wallet settings for the polestar card is set to allow passive entry.

 

Same thing happening with my Polestar 3… the old digital keys will not delete and cannot be moved. Factory reset didn’t help either…
