Do I need to change the Amps setting for home charging and public charging? And why does my battery drain just sat in the drive?

You don't need to adjust it either when using the granny charger cable, the cable is smart enough...Unless you have some terrible electrics wherever you are.

Easiest way to see what the problem is, switch off scheduled charging ;) And even better if you switch it on, do it via the supply side not the demand side...

Thanks. So this raises the question, why have they put this feature there if it is unnecessary and confusing for less technical people like myself?
You are in the UK, not everyone is in the UK. You are fine to leave it at 32A. People in other regions in the world may have different power supplies. In the UK it is common to have a wall supply unit, typically called a charger but it isn't really a charger. They get set up inline with UK standard integration as per your building certificate etc. Nothing wrong with leaving it at default, but it is good that for other regions where there is the need to limit or increase it.

Official Polestar charging cables as supplied with the car also regulate it as per the socket in the region. Beside the UK one that I never use I also bought a schuco one for mainland Europe, works well and can just plug it in any socket.

Why is it better to manage it through the charger and not the car?
When you are out and about and there is a destination charger you don't want to have accidentally still have your car set to only charge during the times of your cheaper tariff. Therefore it makes more sense to align the supply side (your wall box) with your tariff as it is only relevant for that one. And thus when you are out and about and want to plug it into an AC charger (destination charger) it will just grab the power without needing to change the settings. It pure convenience.

Just set it up once and use everywhere...
