Does the Kia EV9 look like the Polestar 3?

Photos of the new Kia EV9 were leaked today, and it might just be me, but it kind of reminds me of the P3.

Looks more like a stretched Range Rover defender (new one) than a P3 to me.

i mean don’t all 7 seat SUVs look somewhat similar? It’s definitely more boxy than the 3 though.

Depending on price though, this will probably be a better value proposition than Volvo EX90 or Polestar 3. To be fair neither of them want to be known as the “Value” brand anyway, but I imagine there will be many people cross-shopping them all.

More like a threesome with Kryten from Red Dwarf.

It’s like somebody heard about the P3 and had to draw one without actually seeing it.

That looks nothing like a P3 other than that it has 5 doors and 4 wheels.

I like the look of it. It’s distinctive yet modern. It’s thankfully not like a typical egg or bean shaped EV or like a crazy folded and slashed form from Lexus.
The chunky form with angular planes and chamfers vaguely reminds me of the Volvo Concept 40.2 (or P*3) which is not a bad thing. From the side profile it could be a more upright (non-coupe SUV) full-sized P*3.

Not too distintictive….

We recently bought a Kia Sorento PHEV and it cost the same as my Polestar LRDM PP. Kia is no longer just a value brand.

Nope, but it should be ;)

It takes a long time to change the image of a company once it has been established. KIA has been established as a cheap value brand and raising prices and quality will not change that perspective in the short or medium term. You won’t see people switching to them from MB, BMW, Volvo unless their circumstances have changed and can no longer afford their vehicle or choice.

It is far easier to start as a luxury brand and offer value lines and models than to start as a value and upgrade to luxury.

finally no matter how it looks a cheap brand will always struggle with quality and kia interior quality normally leaves a lot to desire.

Definitely very true.

Kia has made some almost fun cars like the Stinger and some of the C'eed versions. But even then, their prices took them into M car territory and they just can't compete with that. The design isn't ageing well, the interiors are shocking, and it is just like they put as much features from a cheap parts bin on it without considering the overall intergration and design.

And then there is that logo, they've just rebranded and in my opinion made it even worse. It's classless, and stupidly large.

The new Kia's are designed by the BMW designer they hired (stole:) I like the new direction / design. Have you seen the new BMW's? Yikes.

I have one as a loaner while my PS-2 is having service. Fun and nice features but not even close to the PS in any way except technology. pretty cool dash, but performance and comfort not close to PS- especially if you have the Napa leather.
The Sorento interior is in many ways equal to the Polestar. It has good leather and lots of brushed aluminum versus plastic piano black

Really? You think this busy ergonomic mess is equal in many ways to the Polestar? And that that cheap leather (piping is generally a dead giveaway for that, as is the shine) is good, the same? Ah well, we have to agree to disagree on this one as well.

Can’t agree with this. We had a brand new Sorento for a month in New Zealand early last year, as in it had 14km’s on the clock when we picked it up, and while it was competent and well screwed together the overall feeling wasn’t on a par with the Polestar. More like a Toyota 10-20 years ago.

Is it brushed aluminium or “brushed aluminium”?
