The first order of Polestar 2s has arrived in Europe at the Belgian port of Zeebrugge. The cars are destined for customers in Sweden and Norway and the actual keys are expected to change hands in August.
Polestar 2s headed for Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK are close behind, while buyers in Switzerland can also expect their 2s before the end of 2020.
“This is a big moment. We are one step closer to getting Polestar 2 to our first customers in Europe,” said Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO. “The arrival of this first shipment is proof of just how committed we are to our customers and how our operations are working at high efficiency around the world.”
If you’re wondering why the cars that have landed today can’t be delivered before August, that’s because there’s still travel to do. First, the cars have to be trucked to a central hub in Belgium where final prep and checks will be completed. Only after that can they head to their final locations.
Built in China, the Polestar 2 makes about 400 hp and 487 lb-ft of torque and a range of 275 miles.
