Got to love our west coast charging infrastructure.

 

How did you get over 200 kw? I thought the 3 could only hit that number on Tesla superchargers in Europe. This is the first I’ve heard of anyone in the US exceeding 200 kw charging.

 

IONNA new Alpitronic are 400kW chargers, so they are faster than Superchargers at 800v, and can output 600amps, so they’re faster than all but the newest 500kW Tesla units at 400v too. Plus, they’re cheap and have nice amenities. And they’re all over the east coast too I’ve used them in Scranton PA - lovely!

 

Present EA and Tesla chargers peak around 194kW for P3's. With US rollout of soon to be hundreds than thousands Ionna Alpitronics chargers and Walmart massive rollout of their Alpitronics chargers 200+ kW charging will be the norm. 200+kW was done with preconditioning. Would be much lower rate without preconditioning.

Couple of days after delivery of my P3 (11/29/24) I precondition and charged at Tesla SC that had V4 dispenser (325 kW) and momentarily peaked at 201 kW. 40+ sessions since SC peak has been 193-195 kW if preconditioned and at 25% or less state of charge. Same low to mid 190's kW on EA 350's also. I did read somewhere around first of the year that Tesla did lower limit the peak for non Tesla's but haven't seen Tesla confirm.

 

My previous 2019 Tesla 3 (400v) could peak at 250+kW on v3+ Tesla DCFC. Unless the P*3 has a lower peak limit on volts or amps, it seems like physics isn’t what’s stopping it from reaching 250kW.

 

Tested today: navigated to Tesla v4 DCFC, arrived at 9% SoC, peak rate was 194kW. So… I guess that’s the best I can do. Will try at a 350kW EA next, but don’t expect an improvement on that.
