Hello everyone.
Got a problem with our PS2 (2022 69kW/h).
I'm sharing my neighbours 7kW charger. He always pulls 7 kW but over the last 4 charges I'm only getting 5kW although when I first used in August I was getting 7kW. The charging is set at 32A. Any ideas?

I have a Podpoint rated at 7Kwh... But the App tells me it's pulling 6.2 Kwh hrs... every time i use it which is most of the time it's ever charged... It's always worked flawlessly so I'm not bothered.
I've only ever seen a max of 140 Kwh when charging on IONITY stations rated at 350 Kwh on the occasional times I've used them... More often than not 100kwh is the norm....
So along with max range it's a bit of a Russian Roulette what your going to get..
I've learned over 3.5 yrs that as long as all goes well will the actual charge which in my case it has.... I'm happy.

Thanks for that. The strange thing is my neighbour gets 7kW per hour on his Tesla. Why?

You can check during charging in the car, on the dash it tells you the voltage and amperage and that's a direct indication of what is causing the slowness (likely amperage - like poundsnpence mentioned above, is it a "smart" charger that the neighbor can control the amperage?)

I am having the same problem (for the last 2-3 months) with the car only drawing 5kW from my home charger but also on public 7kW chargers. There is another thread about this issue started by @IRLEd who has the same problem. I have a 2022 LRDM Plus with performance upgrade (seems to be cars older than 2 years that have suddenly been affected). I have contacted Polestar support but not received a reply.

I've tried lowering it but not down as far as 10A. Made no difference. The other issue is that it doesn't initiate a charge immediately, it tries for 5 or 6 cycles before starting a 5kW charge. It's been fine for 3 years, so why now all of a sudden? And why won't friggin' PS answer my query?

Our neighbour gets a readout of what's happening to the charge rate, he sent us the graph which shows a drop off after a short while from 7 to 5 KW.
Hmm I've heard the on board charger goes bad on some cars (not common issue but not rare issue for sure) might be the charging is on the way out and is throttling due to whatever protection built in, just a wild guess.

as for Polestar getting service, I find the only way over here is to call the dealerships. I've tried webform and email (5+ times) to the local service depot but I never hear back.

I've not heardabout the onboard charger going bad, but if that's a thing then I think that I better get an appointment with my local dealership (Volvo) and have it looked at.

Seriously both need to try another cable - it's the most likely limiting factor. The OBC going bad is a possibility but I'd be very surprised if these were the symptoms.

Caveat: both of you reporting 5kW specifically makes me wonder if there is a limit being imposed somewhere: maybe the current is being limited despite the car menu showing it is 32A?

No, my neighbour has no problem charging at 7 Kw

Hello,
I had a similar problem about this time last year with our PS2 (Launch edition). We have an untethered Zappi2 charger, and use the Polestar 32 Amp cable. It would charge at 7 kW, until one day when it would charge at only 3.5 kW. I suspected a setting in the Zappi had flipped, and contacted myenergi support. After an hour on the phone and many investigations, the technician suggested I asked a friend with an EV to try charging. I did, and his would charge close to 7 kW. I took my PS2 to his home (also with a Zappi2), where again his EV would charge at 7 kW, and my PS2 only at 3.5 kW. I therefore took it to my local Volvo dealer, who found that the on-board charger was faulty. It took a week for a replacement to come from Sweden. Fortunately DC charging wasn't affected, only AC. However, I heard (rightly or wrongly) that an AC car charger could be damaged if connected: if so, fortunately the Zappi has suitable protection: it just cut the charging rate. Very fortunately, the repair was carried out under warranty! Based on my experience, it would be a good idea to have it checked.
