I just got home from picking up my new ‘22 Polestar 2 and noticed the left rear panel is not flush with the trunk (see photos). The other side is fine.
Tesla’s uneven panel gaps is one of the reasons I decided to purchase this car instead, so I admit I may be hyper aware of them at the moment. At the least, finding similar gap issues on a Polestar is rather disappointing.
I’m kindly asking for a 2nd opinion, whether this is a big enough issue to raise with the Polestar dealership or if I should just brush it off. What do you think?
It’s hard to advise without comparing both sides.
I’m surprised you didn’t notice it on collection, if it’s as bad as described I would have refused the car there and then.
I figured it out. The trunk has rubber feet (2 attached on sides and 2 on trunk sill). It seems the main purpose is to dampen the force when closing, but they’re also height adjustable by simply twisting them. The trunk is now flush.
Feel silly for posting this now haha but going to leave it up in case someone else has the same issue.

This is an incredible pro tip. I noticed that my hatch was not quite flush on the driver side only (not to this degree) and was wondering if those feet might be the culprit, but couldn’t find a way to adjust anything myself. Had the same thoughts re: the many times I’ve made fun of Tesla for this, but again this is nothing like I’ve seen on those. I’ll give the twist a try, thanks for posting.
The misalignment shown in the OP's picture is pretty horrific. I'd be looking to see if the closure is adjustable in some way (rubber stops under it, maybe?), but if it's not something I could easily adjust myself without much fuss, I'd absolutely be asking the dealer to fix that.
Nice! I’m glad this became of some use.
And good call, Omaniac. Getting the car back from the detailer tomorrow. I’ll ask if they noticed anything and test it myself.
Pretty sure that's supposed to be part of the pre-delivery process that they should check and adjust those feet/pads to align the trunk and the hood properly.
What happens is that they're adjusted to a pre-determined point in the factory that may (or may not) align with body line, given the brand new fresh seals that are in place. Those new seals compress and settle in, and....voila, the trunk sits lower. Then your dealer's tech is supposed to turn the feet counter-clockwise to lift the sitting position.
Common issue even on older cars when replacing with new seals, I'll have to go back after a few days or weeks and adjust the feet.
