Just find the amp in the car and tap the high level outputs for the sub amp. Most aftermarket amps can take this high level input. Trunk is the best spot for a sub. I am sure you can set for auto on and the subs shouldn鈥檛 drain the battery. If anything the car shuts off if you aren鈥檛 in the seat. Your 12V should be fine.
If you want to be ambitious, build a fibreglass box for the under trunk cover for a more oem look.

Let me know how you get on, I got two subs sitting in the garage lol.

Just worried about wiring it all up to the infotainment and draining the 12v.

im conserned that if you put it under the trunk it will make the cover over it attle a lot more than if you put it at the right side.

I鈥檓 interested in installing a JBL 8鈥 slim subwoofer that I have on my i3. I tapped into the amp for power and signal and it works great, I will want to swap it to the polestar once I take delivery. Keep us posted if you got it to work please.

I thought the polestar subs are in the dash?

It definitely seems possible to add in a sub by tapping into the air woofer signals. Wondering where the factory H&K amp is located in the car. Anyone with wiring diagrams?
You might want to consider tapping into the signal for the front center speaker so that you can control the low pass filtering on your amp. Otherwise you will have to live with the signal processing being supplied to the HK air woofer.

Makes sense. I think it would be optimal to position the amp in close proximity to the stock amp (which would be in the front passenger boot to my knowledge).

Just installed the JBL Slim 8 and it was pretty easy, tapped power from the 12V cig lighter on lefthand rear boot, tapped remote (light blue) from the taillight just above that, I used the ground on the right boot and tapped the high level inputs right from the amp harness (rh boot). The speaker wires for rear speakers are purple/yellow and in the RH plug you can just tap those pairs to the high level input on the slim8.

I'd be interested in this as well. Did you have a HK system in your car? Did you disable the rear air woofer in that case (where is it located exactly, somewhere under the rear seat?). I wonder would tapping to the woofer signal make more sense, as there might be a lot of filtering done to the rear speakers....(high pass filter)
