Have just taken delivery of a polestar 2 - aside from some odd design choices like the worst cup holder placement I’ve ever seen - I think it’s a great car.. but.. the dreaded digital key.. I have seen multiple posts on here prior to my delivery bemoaning it’s uselessness but the odd few saying it’s great.. as per photo I am not one of the few - iPhone 14 Pro Max for reference.

how can such an old ongoing issue still not be fixed? Why does the car let me in, but weirdly not into the boot, and then say no key detected?

I’ve done all the usual things people have suggested to fix, last one being a complete reset of the head unit and set up new profile.. issue remains..

Seems silly I know but in practise it should be such a good feature. My iPhone is replacing everything I normally carry and was really hoping that next up the car key would be gone.

why Polestar thinks it’s acceptable to promote and offer a feature that clearly has ongoing major issues is beyond me. Surely pull it, fix it and release it working..

Any tips..?

This message used to appear when the doors were not shut correctly, worth checking.
The only time PAK has failed (?) on me is when I was signed out of the app but the app didn't tell me.
The problems start before getting in as I can’t open the boot only the side doors with PAK.

I find it so odd that it recognises the phone enough to let you in the doors and unlock the car but then decides after letting you inside there is no key 😂

I believe this is because PAK has a short range and you need to be very close to the car to open the trunk. If PAK is unlocking the car doors then it's being recognized so it's not that it outright isn't working.

There is some issues with some DKs when it comes to the boot kick sensor, but the button on the bumper should work fine.
Doesn’t affect a large number of people, I have the DK on 3 phones and on 2 no issues and on 1 the kick sensor is hit or miss. It could be a phone issue rather than app as the phone when opening the doors needs to be ultra close to the door handle too.

I don't think Polestar ever promoted the app/PAK from beta status yet. The kick sensor does need the key/phone (PAK) fairly close. It works for me most every time once I figured out exactly how to properly kick. :) I have started using the PAK more for local trips but don't trust it for longer runs, or any situation that I would be concerned I'd be stranded more than an hour waiting for my wife to bring me one of the fobs. Note that I've never had to call her even when I was testing the PAK early on. Hopefully your situation gets better - the PAK was mostly useless when it was first introduced.

very very early on, like week one, my bluetooth connections got hosed up. the phone said connected, the car said no, music would work, PAK didn't... I did three things:
1) reset the car systems infotainment..
2) deleted my Polestar account from the car and everything I could fine, and set-up a new one
3) re-set my PHONE

I think the phone reset is what did the trick, since it thought it was connected but wasn't. might be worth a shot

“Odd few”?

To start with, you seldom hear from any of the 10’s of thousands of P2 owners, where the digital key (or other things) work as designed.

Nevertheless, chit does happen, and sometimes things don’t work the way you expect, or want them to…but that doesn’t mean anything is f*cked up. As pointed out above, in a couple of posts, there are multiple reasons why it may not be working for you….things that have nothing to do with there being a problem with the PAK. For example, when i first started to use PAK on my iPhone, it didn’t work…but then I found out that the app needed to be open/active before the code would be transferred to the car to unlock the doors. That was my mistake, not Polestar.

any reason for such a hostile response? Jeez.. always someone on these forums that seems to take questions personally or get offended by others opinions or experience..

It doesn’t work for me, I’m not losing sleep over it, was just asking for help.. you only have to look at the App Store reviews, majority of which are 1 star to see there is clearly an issue.. but I’ll remember to keep this to myself in the future so I don’t upset anyone else.

Mine does the same. I can get my phone to pair as a key, and it will allow me to lock and unlock the doors via proximity with just my phone (I don't have to do it through the app). But if I try to put it in drive it tells me it does not detect a key.

Like, car, you let me INSIDE when it was locked, so clearly you detected a key at that point!

I would love a solution to getting the driving function to work...otherwise it's pretty useless to me.

To be fair; most car key systems the unlock/lock is separate from (im)mobilisation. Pretty standard security to have the two separated. I’m sure it’s a case of a missed step or non granted permissions in the car, Google or phone.

Same problem here, I’m going to contact Polestar support if I can’t get it working.
