Good news everyone!

Software Updates 2.9

You can now switch between Pilot Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control with the left buttons on the steering wheel. More information on Pilot Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control is available in the Owner's Manual after installation.
New features in Apple CarPlay:
Apple Maps is now available in the center display.
"Play/Pause" and "Forward/Back" buttons are available in the Apple CarPlay panel.
The "Now Playing" information is available in the Apple CarPlay panel.
Call information is available in the Apple CarPlay panel, the Driver Display and the HUD (Head-up Display). Phone calls can be managed with the buttons on the steering wheel.
Added an option under Control Settings to fold the door mirrors when locking the vehicle. Your choice will be linked to the currently used profile.
Increased the stability of the infotainment system.
The user profile now correctly switches to the currently used key.
The radio channel is not changed when starting a new drive cycle.
Transmission optimization adjustments.

Most likely these changes will come to Polestar also.

Volvo and PS release notes have always been identical up to now, so no reason to suspect otherwise.

Whilst the CarPlay stuff was expected, the toggling of cruise control modes on the left button was not. I'm certainly glad to see that finally sorted though as there are loads of 20mph limits in London (feels like almost all of it) where the limiter is useful. Hopefully it'll make it to the PS2.

Isn't the speed limiter different to Pilot Assist? We don't have the speed limiter in the US but we have Pilot Assist, i.e. the lane centering functionality.
You can now switch between Pilot Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control with the left buttons on the steering wheel.
That makes little sense. They are not separate "modes". You have to set ACC, CC, Speed Limiter via the Center Display.
Left and right buttons don't do anything.
Then if you turn on ACC or the Speed Limiter... Left and Right toggle Pilot Assist, or the Automatic Speed Limiter.
You cannot switch between ACC and Pilot Assist... as the latter is a feature of the former... that you can simply turn on/off.

What they probably meant to say is... that you can now switch BETWEEN these 3 modes of ACC, CC, Speed Limiter.

I do wonder if maybe I was getting prematurely excited* about the LIM function being accessible...

I wonder if all they've done is made it possible to switch between normal and adaptive CC...

* excited is possibly taking things too far.

Hahahaha YES... that would be a typical Polestar move!

On the volvo already the left/right buttons do switch between LIM and CC. It’s way more convienient.

Volvo always had switch between ACC and Pilot Assist on those buttons. They moved that functionality from the steering wheel to the tablet with the update from Sensus to Android and there were a lot of complaints, especially since the buttons were still there.
They also moved the driving mode button to the tablet, followed by many complaints, but that button was removed so not possible to put back.
Also speed limiter should be able to be activated with the steering wheel button.

I know... I'm hoping that's what they've done as a lot of Volvo owners are moaning about this regression and we might benefit by proxy...

Yep. Was surprising for it not to come (at least as an option) on the MY23 Polestar...
Volvos with Android get a HUD?
Yes, the XC60 and XC90 does.

Can’t see how they’ll be identical this time.

We already have the ability to switch PA on/off from the steering wheel.

We already have the ability to fold the mirrors on lock (amazing that Volvos didn’t have this!)

Also I’m really hoping there’s a mention of Digital Key improvements (Volvo doesn’t have this).

Volvo already had the ability to fold mirrors on lock, at least in the pure electric cars.
Either this is for their ICE and hybrids, or this is now linked to the profile (eg, Mrs Eyeballs wants the mirrors open, Mr Eyeballs wants the mirrors folded in)

(and pre 1.4, Volvo Cars could enable/disable steering assistance from the steering wheel, before it was removed for whatever reason. Thankfully it wasn't removed from the Polestar)

Yes, the XC60 and XC90 does.
Oh I missed the fact they replaced The old infotainment with the android version on those.

I thought it was still just the electric XC40!
”Drivetrain optimisation adjustments”

Ok here we go again!
Hopefully the steering goes back to being firmer on all settings again, right now on 2.8 you cant use the other two ( only the firm is good)
And now maybe they have had time to give us back the more aggressive and fun OPD 2.5 had.
2.8 have already fixed the throttle, its much more fun and responsive now.

I just keep hoping that we get Cruise Control to control the cruise again. On cruise control without manual intervention the car feels like an underpowered Fiat Panda crawling up a hill and then throwing itself off on the other side.
