Good news everyone!

Software Updates 2.9

You can now switch between Pilot Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control with the left buttons on the steering wheel. More information on Pilot Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control is available in the Owner's Manual after installation.
New features in Apple CarPlay:
Apple Maps is now available in the center display.
"Play/Pause" and "Forward/Back" buttons are available in the Apple CarPlay panel.
The "Now Playing" information is available in the Apple CarPlay panel.
Call information is available in the Apple CarPlay panel, the Driver Display and the HUD (Head-up Display). Phone calls can be managed with the buttons on the steering wheel.
Added an option under Control Settings to fold the door mirrors when locking the vehicle. Your choice will be linked to the currently used profile.
Increased the stability of the infotainment system.
The user profile now correctly switches to the currently used key.
The radio channel is not changed when starting a new drive cycle.
Transmission optimization adjustments.

Most likely these changes will come to Polestar also.

Yes, but as part of the performance upgrade I think. I say I think because I purchased the upgrade almost two weeks ago, got the update on Tuesday but the performance app hasn’t updated as of yet.
I got the performance update (along with 2.8) on Sat. The performance app showed up after I reset the infotainment, IIRC.
My car last night was all lit up on the interior - the logo against the glass roof, and the ambient lighting on the dash and around the gear selector. I'm sure I read somewhere that the car does this when it's downloading an update?
That is correct, but it also does it periodically (can't remember the exact frequency) to check the 12V battery voltage, and top up if required.

Also while AC charging (but unlocking/re-locking it turns it off)

I don't understand why the update process don't restart everything after an update.

I do a reset before I update and then one again as soon as its finished!
You should all do that!

I always do after, but we should not have to even think about it as that should be done automatically after update.

Is the OTA notification visible still after the reset before you install it?
My car has always done a cold boot after an update.

My car has always done a cold boot after an update.
After an update shortly after I got the car (almost 2 years ago) I noticed maps and navigating on the screen where slow, so I send mail to customerservice and they replied that after updating they recommended a tripple reset, meaning reboot infotainment, reboot tcam and then reboot infotainment again, and that fixed the slowness then, and also after later update where it again was slow, so I do that as first thing after every update now.

Had my car at service today and have 2.9 installed now. Only had a short drive so too soon to say much, but first impression was that breaking on OPD is a little bit better now.

Classic "go away" customer service response.

Mine also always cold booted after an upgrade when I opened the door, so surprised this doesn't happen to everyone.

They're consistent in not being consistent I guess?

Wow! Triple reset! I am gonna try that next week for sure!

Everybody should feel how the car feels now before you update and how the car behaves and how much you need to press the throttle for things to happen, because these things will change if you update from 2.7 or lower.

I can't say I'd buy it just for an update you can easily go to a workshop to get for free... But I'd highly recommend the performance update if you want your car to have a little more punch. Quite like it myself.
Classic "go away" customer service response.
I work as an IT consultant with operations and support, and with windows there's no end to what problems are solved by a reboot, servers and clients alike.
And the solution they provided worked perfectly, so not only windows.

As for the 2.9, other than a bit more braking from the OPD, I don't notice any other changes from 2.7. The ACC will still not maintain the set speed downhill (adds 3 km/h). If I turn off ACC when approaching an intersection (with foot off pedal) it will still start braking from anything between 0 and up to more than 1 second.
Have UK owners managed to update yet?. I’m running 2.8 and my car says it’s up to date even though when I click on release notes it’s shows changes for 2.9 etc.
It has not been released OTA yet - the only way to get it is at a workshop.

Ah ok, thanks.
My car had 2.4 when i got it and now i have 2.9, i do a lot of miles and ive never noticed any difference with OPD through any of the updates 🤔 i like the new graph in 2.9 though 🙂
My car was in Volvo just over a week ago........updated to 2.8

Not sure why they didn't do 2.9, but I'm not complaining
