Great improvement with the battery etc.. but oh dear the front colour coded panel instead of the previous grille has ruined the cars masculine and mean look particularly on light coloured cars. It seems the majority feedback on here agree. It looked awful on the Volvo so was originally glad Polestar hadn’t done this. Regrettably it would put me off buying another one.

I'm not fond of the plastic tray that Polestar and Volvos have now on their EVs but I guess they need to show "hey this is an EV not an ICE"

I guess Heico or some other brand will make old school Polestar 2 grille look-a-like that fits the new electronics ;)

I was wondering what you guys think about the facelift of P2. I appreciate the extra range and stuff, but that front face reminds me of something that KIA would do. If they kept it black, it might have been much smoother transition from current P2 design.
I have a launch edition, two years old and still love it and yes I also prefer the "original" black front; it offers some expression where the new one is more looking like " we do similar to other brands". I also still like my "original" 19 " wheels.
Thus no regrets as far as the looks are concerned. But of course some extra range could be welcome, but I would have to pay an extra 10.000 for a similar full equipped PS2.
No reason to think of changing :)

But the people who post here about the loss of the grill are those who feel strongly. “Birds of a feather flock together”. I don’t agree with the bulk here who are mourning it’s loss. It’s called change. But give me the updated motor, battery and performance/range…

Nothing in the '24 change warrants realized depreciation if you already own a P*2. It is definitely worth delaying a '23 buy for a '24 especially for the single motor RWD.

The next generation P*2 in 2027-2029 is probably the one to get.

My personal opinion is that if one is ready to make the change from a Volvo diesel to a Polestar EV he/she is ready for a change. But that does not mean one should like any change.
We are talking here about looks and by definition not everyone has the same feeling about the stance of a car.
In case I would go for the new model I would keep the grill of my actual car and have it mounted on the new one 😇

New front?

Must admit I like this one - it's been designed not a random afterthought to match Corporate branding - pity they did not pay as much attention to the PS2!
Yes, agreed. With the PS3 it was designed to be like that and I don't mind it. The PS2 update should have done more and updated their tooling to move to that design language. It just looks like its a patch and not finished.

I suspect that that is the reason - to achieve the effect of the PS3 I suspect that you need a need front bumper.
I've been led to think that the injection mold for something the size of a PS front bumper is in the region of 1 to 2 million pounds and the cycle rate is very low so you probably need three or four of them!

I would propose cost cutting - which seems to be commonplace now

@Iscadean Actually, the thermodynamics of things like the heat pumps , not to mention the cooling of the motor and wiring require a method to dump heat - so the PS has a radiator and thus a grille.

e.g. -

Most people here seem to be discussing poor design not lamenting a grille
However, the design of the black grill is not a functional radiator/cooling grill. That is below the number plate. The article suggests it is ‘comfort’ or subconscious bias based in the ‘idea‘ of a radiator grill which keeps people wanting a grill even if it just looks like one, whether or not it acts like one. Function and form operate outside this ‘preference’, making the requirement of a radiator grill, which looks like radiator grill, a subjective choice rather than an objective one. Essentially, each to his/her own.
