Please check the FAQ below. If an there is no Answer the Question has been submitted to Polestar and we are awaiting and answer.
If your question is not on the below list, please ask away and I'll it to the list!
I'll keep this list updated so new readers don't have to scroll down to see if someone else has already asked something they wish to know.
Here's the list:-
1. Can you use the front USB's with a memory stick or phone to play audio files?
Music from the USB C cannot be played. These are only a power source. There is also no space for SD cards. All music playback takes place via streaming service in the car (ie Spotify) or Bluetooth from the phone.
2. Can you set a timer for the charging? i.e only charge at "home" from 10pm to 5am ?
Yes, you can set when the car charges. Both through the infotainment system as well as the mobile app Polestar Connect. *
*Note both these are not available at present. The app is due Mid-2021. The "via infotainment" has no ETA and will be either part of the pre-conditioning due end-2020 or has been removed as a feature.
3. Confirmation of service centres?
Most if not all the main Volvo dealerships in the UK will be carrying out the servicing and maintenance for Polestar.
4. What are the service intervals?
24 months or 18,000 miles.
5. When will the lower spec models be available?
Not yet confirmed, updates about this will be made available through the newsletter. Most probably Late 2021.
6. What controls are locked out of the infotainment system while you're driving?
Still in development - however I noticed on the drive the Google App Store and the Settings buttons for the Apps (custom load outs etc..) were both locked. Nothing else seemed to be locked when in motion - although they only had Spotify, Maps, and some other typical one's on there.
7. How pairing multiple phones works?
The Drivers phone takes precedents - Driver is determined by who's phone was on the person at the time they opened the Drivers door and sat down.
8. What will the connectivity cost be after the free 3 years?
9. How are OTA updates to the infotainment handled?
Updates are done automatically. There should be no user input. In addition it seems there will be no notification something has been updated either.
10. Any in-built dashcam or something like sentry mode - will it be added?
No, the cameras are only there to support driving and parking assist
11. Would Polestar recommend any specific home charger / wallbox brand/company?
We have not partnered up with anyone at the moment, however we do recommend PodPoint as a Wallbox provider in the UK (Point Flex US)
12. Does the infotainment system support 5G network?
Will update if they respond officially, however on the drive it was only 4G/3G (3g due to some dense forest areas on the drive - however "hay google ...xxx" still worked just slower). The fact that 5G costs more I doubt very much this is a feature at present.
13. Does the car have wi-fi for other people in the car?
The car does have hotspot capabilities, however a separate sim must be purchased to have this feature enabled.*
*Note: Owners have found the sim slot, however no additional "hotspot" options have appeared.
14. The Plugsurf key fob you get in the EU with the car, does it give discounts or some offers or just a free fob?
Doesn't appear so ... so higher costs just for the convenience of one RFID. Not really useful in most of the UK, but in the EU there are more locations.
15. Does the car just use one Google Account or can you have different Google Accounts linked to different profiles?
16. Pure progressive performance | Polestar <-- Check this link for other question.
17. What cables does the Polestar 2 come with in the EU/UK?
A "wall socket" to Type 2 Charger. Max 2.6kW Charge Possible.
An 11kW Type 2 to a Type 2*
*Note Due to the UK mostly using 7kW chargers if you use this cable for untethered charger you will only get a maximum of 3.6kW. If you typically use a lot of untethered connections in the UK, you will need a 32A Type 2 to Type 2 cable.
