I have a 2024 Polestar 2 PPP

I know this has been answered, about going from a Polestar 2 to a 3 but I feel with all the updates to both I wanted to visit this again.

Dilemma: I have a 2024 Polestar 2 PPP. The lease is coming due. I have had a 2022 too but the 2024 is so good minus software at times but I can forgive that being that these cars are so complicated and I am Software Engineer.

But here is my question to owners that went from a Polestar 2 to Polestar 3: would you dump a solid Polestar 2 for a Polestar 3? Me and my fiancee test drove the 3 and loved it but how fast would I fall out of love with it if i brought it home? Hahaha!

Or should I stick with a Polestar 2? I'm not opposed to it.

I'm in the same situation as you except I own my P2. I am strongly looking at the P3 or P4, but theres not enough stability with the platform yet to make me go for it. I think I'll be hanging off for another while.

 

I mean MY24 is so good. I guess I could always extend the lease and see if things get a bit better. I just like planning.

I went from a 2 to a 3 but wanted something bigger and more range. The 3 meets my needs perfectly. Love the additional space and the extra 70-80 mile range. I can now get from So Cal to Las Vegas without stopping, and can return home non stop too. And the comfort space is great.

About 10 days ago, I took the plunge from my 2024 SMLR P2 to the SMLR P3. I owned my P2 for one year and put about 16,000 miles on it, primarily road miles. It was a great car and I was very happy with it. Similar to what John_F wrote, I was motivated to move to the P3 for its size (I always felt cramped in the P2, particularly in terms of headroom) and added range. So far, after 10 days with the P3, I'm happy with my decision - there's definitely much more room in the P3 - I'd say it is impressively roomy. Although I haven't road-tested it yet with a long trip, the added range over the SMLR P2 is noticeable. Candidly, the software glitches are a bit of a nuisance. I've performed two soft resets of the TCAM, which generally resolved the problems. However, my latest issue is that when I try to listen to local radio stations, no sound is transmitted. I need to figure out how to solve that issue. I was on the fence about whether I should wait longer to allow the software glitches on the P3 to get further resolved, but once I test-drove the P3, there was no going back. No regrets on my end, but I fully understand those who want to wait this out or simply don't want to give up their 2024 P2, as it really is the perfect car. Good luck with your decision!

 

We too have a 2024 P2 PPP, and hate the thought of turning it in next year. Do you need/want a car that is so much larger than the P2? Want to be driving that much battery around? For us, the P2 is just right.

 

Same here; we own our P2 so no lease company timeline to worry about but we have looked at the P3 several times. In the end the P2 is just the right size for us and since we got access to Tesla Superchargers any remaining concerns taking it on a road trip have disappeared. For now we will keep the P2 and just continue to enjoy it.

Yeah there is a lot to think about. The more space is definitely a huge plus.

Yeah I think about that too... but I rather have the excess amount than not enough. Even with the Performance Pack (which im not actively looking at, I found I dont use the Performance Pack or all wheel drive so I want SM, Plus, Pilot, Pro with Sport wheels with leather) I would be able to go a little over halfway from my house to Orange County. SM would get me so far.

 

Why not both?
