The price was 130 K to 150 K USD. Now the price is still higher than most countries.

How can the Polestar decision teams in China so arrogance, ignorance and ridiculous? Even imported Mercedes EQ family, BMW IX family, Porche taycans have big discounts in China, a made in China Polestar set a ridiculously high price in China, not to mention made and sold in China cars like ID4, Model 3 and Mache-E.

With Tesla's price cuts sinking in (and rebate eligibility restored) along with BMW and Mercedes throwing $10+K on the hood of their EV SUV's I've been debating canceling my P3 pre-order. It's simply uncompetitive at launch prices, the market has shifted.

Polestar has dramatically cut those prices with the official launch in China, with the long-range dual-motor model now starting at RMB698,000 and the long-range dual-motor with performance pack model at RMB798,000.

This equates to a price drop of around RMB200,000, or around $A43,500. This is 116,830.24 US Dollars, which IMO is still super expensive.

China and the US are also getting their hands on the Polestar 3 earlier than Australia – with expected first deliveries starting in the fourth quarter – but that’s unsurprising, considering that the Polestar 3 is also the company’s first car to be manufactured in both the US and China.

Don’t expect any price cut outside of this one in China. Polestar released a lengthy statement this week. I don’t feel like doing exchange rates and trying to determine prices for packages, but it seems the P3 is pricier in China due to some additional market driven reasons (lifetime warranty and maintenance).

To be more competitive, they are offering a “base” model. Likely if you upgraded a China P3 to match one in USA or elsewhere where we are getting launch options, it would account for the “price cut”.

So not really a price cut.

As discussed in another thread, Polestar is HELL BENT to get these to customers in USA in October. Smart business strategy. To meet this goal, no way they offer a base model here.

If you want a P3, but it’s a bit too pricey (or you want LIDAR), you’ll have to wait until USA production begins next year. I do think a base P3 will likely knock about $10k off the current price.

“There has been no change to the Polestar 3 prices announced at launch in October. As part of the recent launch of Polestar 3 in China, we released a detailed breakdown of local pricing with additional information on the customised product offering for the Chinese market.

Pricing for the standard specification including Pilot and Plus packs announced in October 2022 included features such as Nappa leather, megapixel LED headlights, and extended bespoke customer service offerings.

In pricing released last week, Nappa leather and megapixel LED headlights are shown as optional extras for the standard specification package, in line with pricing packages in the rest of the world. The standard specification package in China also includes other complementary service offerings such as lifetime warranty, on-site service and lifetime maintenance.

Nappa leather and customized service offerings are now part of the higher tier specification package which includes the Performance Pack.”
