Perfection!
You may be joking, but it actually wouldn't take much to make that work aesthetically... Move/resize things so that the dials have the same centerpoint as the corners of the bezels, use the existing screen instead of the one on the panel, and maybe add another button or 2 to the "notch" at the bottom.

IMO all they really need though is a couple of thin aluminum piano-key type switches that wrap around the bottom of the display. Just have the ones on either end work in both the up and down direction for temperature. Something like what's on the Sierra EV (but with less bling):

Would be nice if AAOS would let you DIY some aftermarket solutions...

I'm not joking. I like physical buttons and actually looked into how to possibly make an AAOS app, that could connect to some physical controller. It's possible, but requires special permissions when packaging the app that basically only Polestar (or other manufacturers) have. So an after market solution would either have to require ROOTed / jailbreaked AAOS, or some good connections with Polestar (or the car you want to target).

It's good to hear that a new P2 will live on. 2028 is going to be too late for me, as my second P2 lease will be up in 2027. I'm not sure what I'll do in 2027, but I'm unlikely to stay with Polestar because I don't want an SUV.

Seriously!? The Lucid Air sits so close to the ground it's as hard to get in and out of it as it is with a Corvette.
Yea, I test drove a Grand Touring which has such a high floor inside that you feel laid back like a racing driver with your legs out straight in front of you because they wanted the low seating position but needed to raise the floor to account for the battery. And in the back seat (without the missing pack modules that the cheaper cars have) there’s no room for your feet to go under the front seat so you have to sit with your knees up to your chin. Super uncomfortable both front and back - all because of that skateboard battery. Audi A6 has excellent seating position with plenty of foot room, but they had to raise the seating position almost to SUV height to so that, and that’s why it has those awkward black panels along the bottom of the doors - to try to hide the height.

Of course the P2 is not exactly normal car height 🙂
Yes, it is about half an inch higher than a Model 3, unless you have a BST which are lowered. Not exactly what I’d call high, though… and that’s suspension setting, rather than the car itself being perched up on top of a battery pack.

Yeah, but the entire car has an elevated profile, and it's way higher than a Lucid. I actually like it that way. Even getting in and out of my brother's C300 is a chore by comparison. That little extra makes a big difference.

By 2030, my 2025 P2 (acquired around Halloween 2024) will have 250-270,000km (thus barely broken in 😉) and the new P2 will have had a couple of years on the market (I don’t buy the first edition of any car), so I will certainly consider it (I love my current one). But it’s likely to be a bit later than that as I typically keep my cars for about 10 years. However, that’s so far out, so hard to predict what I’ll do. Still, it’s gratifying to see the company plans to keep a model with the same general profile as the P2.

Well, let's see ... I like to buy nearly new rather than really new, so if these cars start manufacture in late 2028 the earliest I'd be able to buy would be early 2029, by which time my current P2 will be nearly six years old. Shame, I think that's just a little bit longer than I'd be happy to wait.

The good news is that I'll have plenty of other options to look at (Audi A4 etron, BMW i3, plus many others). But I will miss the P2 when the time comes to let it go, I'm really enjoying driving it.

Well my lease is up in 15 months or so. Will deal with it at that time. But I haven't seen interior pics yet but does the design have "2" cup holders? Give me that with updated software and charging speed and range and it might just be the perfect car 😍.

Another question for me would be - are we expecting any more tweaks to the current P2? Nothing structural, I'm sure, but is there any possibility of minor improvements to the battery, say? Given that we apparently already have an improved infotainment unit in MY26, I can't offhand think of any other improvements that would make, say, an MY27 worth buying?

Honestly I would be happy with another 2024 if I found one cheap or put a tracker on like some did here (brilliant 💡)..... I could keep it for a few year's and give it to my daughter or son if needed. This way I can wait out the bugs and get a new one once all of you beta test it, like I did for the 2024, which has been a joy. I would like less fingerprints on the material of the doors etc. It's like smudges just appears and I swear I did touch that area. Lol. If this is my greatest gripe with the car you know I am happy with it. 😍.

Oh? I didn't know that. I'm coming from an Audi A3, height 1440 mm, and going to get my Polestar 2 next saturday, height 1477 mm, so 3,7 cm higher or about an inch in freedoom units, so it definitely doesn't have the feel of an SUV.
The P2 is essentially a Volvo XC40 with a lower body. Like an elephant sat on the clay model :ROFLMAO:. You can see the effect by how the guards/fenders stretch out over the wheels.

It could be argued it’s the other way around too… the P2 was the Volvo S40 sedan prototype that was given to Polestar when Volvo decided there wasn’t a market for a small sedan. They than built the XC40 and C40 off the same platform by raising it up to make it more SUV like…

There is no way I would let my son drive my DM P2 full time. He'd kill himself or someone else.

so it definitely doesn't have the feel of an SUV.
It's not exactly an SUV, but compare a P2 side by side to a regular sedan (including an A3), and you'll see how tall it seems. That and the hatchback make it something US buyers can be a little happier about.

Just high enough to be awkward. Definitely needs to be a solid 1" lower so the distance from the fender to the top of the tire is the same as the distance from the fender to the front of the tire.
