If you're not a member of the official "Polestar Facebook Community" on Facebook, they recently had a post of the 5 year evolution of the Polestar 2. It mentioned the 2026 improvements which included an "upgraded core processor chip".
Several of the comments, including mine, asked about the possibility of updating the CPU in older Polestar 2s. Well, Polestar responded to one of them with "We might have something exciting to share soon. Stay tuned!"
Fingers crossed they make it happen, as the laggy interface is really the only complaint I have about the car! If you're able, get in there and support this by commenting.

I know everyone is getting excited but you know this will end up being a £2k+ upgrade? Maybe people that have suffered chronic issues with the reverse camera will get it free in some areas or a heavy discount but everyone else will be bent over. They suckered me with the recent discount on the performance upgrade but I can't imagine I'll be paying for an infotainment upgrade unless it's surprisingly cheap.

Yeah, this was my comment. I was shocked to get a reply at all, even more so with this answer from them. Now we'll see what the pricing is, both for the hardware and what installation will cost. This makes the market for used Polestar 2s even more lucrative. Also might induce a few to hold on to their 2s until the replacement model is available.

My suspicion is this might be the case for owners in the USA that still have issues after all the attempted software fixes and where local laws make Polestar responsible for resolving it. They'll add the cost of that to the cost for the rest of us though!

I hope they share their excitement with us soon. Mentally I am willing to go to maybe a 1k price point for the upgrade. It would definitely up the longevity of the car for me (and stop me from looking at other brands with a horse in their logo as an upgrade).

I wonder if it would be possible to do this DIY - like, if it's just replacing the IHU box then maybe that's just an afternoon of dismantling the interior for what should be a couple hundred dollars of parts. One can only wish! Exciting but not holding my breath either.
