Just received this via email:

We are reaching out to inform you of an important service action regarding your Polestar 4 (VIN: YSM4ZPAA3SF**).

During recent quality testing, we have identified that the steering wheel buttons may not be functioning as intended on a selection of Polestar 4 cars. To resolve this it is necessary to replace the buttons, this can be completed free of charge at any Polestar Approved Service point.

We kindly ask you to schedule the appointment directly by contacting your local Polestar Service Point quoting the reference AP1034. If you need any further assistance, please reach out to Polestar Support. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Interestingly, it seems there’s also an additional recall item for the collision warning camera!? This is the confirmation I had when booking my car in for the work:

BOOKED WORK
Steering wheel switch module SWSM replace acc. to QB
CSC - XW, Service action/Recall with collision warning camera

I’ll see what happens when it goes in on Wednesday.

All sorted - the update did take a while (over an hour) but the car is now at 4.1.10. As far as I can tell, nothing has changed with the UI and there are no new features. On my short run to the office everything seemed to be working though and the car reliably automatically locked/unlocked with fob proximity, which makes a change. It will get a proper run out on the 40 mile commute home tonight during which I can test pilot assist etc. Still don’t like the haptic buttons, but they are much more responsive now.

Update following commute home:

The steering wheel buttons do seem to be fixed - would still have preferred physical buttons.

HUD seems to be sorted, but time will tell.

Can confirm auto lock/unlock now works with the key fob - no more pressing the door handle buttons.

Tried to replicate the dual motor range mode ‘thud’. Can normally do so reliably but couldn’t do tonight - might be fixed.

No sign of the changing profile/speed unit bugs, but they were less common in my experience so only time will tell.

Carplay seems reliable now and opens much more quickly.

No change in matrix headlights active high beam as far as I can tell - still blanking due to road signs etc.

Pilot Assist is much improved. Steering control now disengages (steering wheel symbol darkens) when you indicate to make a manual lane change and then re-engages automatically when you get into the new lane. Auto lane change is now an option you can turn on (it was off by default) - I had it on but it hardly ever gave the option to auto change so didn’t have the chance to try it. Less swaying from one side of the lane to the other and less hesitation when passing vehicles in lay bys etc.

In summary, it seems like a very solid update and addresses most if not all of the bugs. Hopefully they can now focus on further improving some of the existing systems and introducing new features.

Had the buttons replaced yesterday. They feel much better. You get feedback when pressing them.
Still having issue with HUD. Worked on drive home last night. Not working this morning. Disappointing, they came out to change buttons but did not update software

You mean they work and are not locked, right? But feedback, being haptic buttons, they are low sensitive and weirdly positioned.

As previous post, steering wheel button have been replaced.
Received the OTA update on Saturday.
Car now at 4.1.10
Now need to turn on lane change in menu.
Car play sometimes hooks up auto and other times have to turn on.
Looks like most issues I was experiencing have been resolved.
But now have a different problem.
Heated steering wheel turns itself on randomly.
Anyone else having this problem?

That's because it's cold outside. There's a menu option for auto steering wheel heating which you can turn off.

The problem for me isn't that it's turning on - that's fine, nice feature, I like it. The problem is that it's turning on on bloody level 3!

I also find the auto steering wheel heating a bit annoying, I have had the same function in previous cars but it allowed you to choose how much heat you'd get. In previous cars it also did the heated seats automatically (again allowing you to choose which level of heated seat you wanted to come on). I wonder why they've only gone with auto wheel heating and not auto seat heating?

I find the function useful, but level 3 heated steering wheel on the Polestar 4 is frankly insanely hot and I have no idea who would ever want that level of heat, even in sub-zero temperatures and with gloves on.

Just had my buttons replaced (took about an hour although the place was busy!), and got an OTA for 4.1.10 a few days ago.
The buttons are definitely ’clickier’ and respond much more assuredly. 1 hour drive on a motorway and no issues with registering clicks at all.
Software update has been great so far. Thankfully you can now start Pilot, and change lanes easily by indicating, which disengages the lane keep so you can more smoothly change lanes. The Pilot then kicks back in. During today’s drive the lane change wasn’t cancelled at all! Hope this stays as the car rarely (if ever) gives me a clean lane change to instigate and when it does picks the worst possible moments.

Software plus button change combo has been good so far. Another long drive tomorrow to test again.

We've had our 4 for a couple of months now and I have noticed that the steering wheel buttons are very hit or miss. I adjusted the HUD and put it too low,
then couldn't bring it back up with no feedback from the Right hand side of the wheel. Today tried to operate the left hand side and no response. Partner then opened the centre display menus and suddenly it starts to give touch feedback. Don't fully believe this is just hardware issues. We have had a few other wierd issues.
Would people recommend contacting Polestar direct with these issues
