i was just able to get onto my Polestar account and indeed, that is the VIN for the car i turned in Dec 2024. This is really bizarre. The poor new owner probably was unable to do anything with the vehicle because they never did anything about this!.

 

This is a failsafe so someone can’t randomly take over your vehicle and controls. So not such an odd e-mail but a security step.

In today’s world - both owner and certainly dealer should do a system reset so vehicle shows up as new for next owner….but it never seems to be a smooth process.

This applies to all digital devices we sell, giveaway, trade in.

 

Maybe you didn’t do a factory reset when you handed back the car so it still has you as the “owner”.

I received this email as well for a PS2 I sold earlier this month. I can’t even accept the ownership request as it says “access forbidden” when I try to confirm the request. I even did the factory reset and everything. Hope support is able to help the new owner.

 

I did not get this email, but continued to see my PS2 as "owner" in my app after I had turned it in. An in-app chat with Polestar fixed it (I believe, if not immediately, then overnight). Not sure if the email recipients could see the car in the app and would not be shocked if these are two separate systems.
