Skoda drivers seem very loyal to the brand and several models over the years (Yeti, Octavia, Superb) have attracted buyers from other marques. On the whole they are a sensible choice for sensible people. Perhaps that's why I'll never buy one.

Well, Skoda used to really be a great deal, back in a day. Now, they pricing is higher than Korean brands, and a lot closer to VW etc. … especially the loaded higher end models. My first Skoda was 120 L, then Favorit and the Felicia … the main attraction to the older line was that a guy with a garage could fix them, or one of hundreds of local shops in CR could. This is not the case with today’s vehicles … they are still cheaper to fix, but the gap is not as it used to be … not even close.

Tesla may very well be in even more trouble than we realize. Today Musk said that the company is worth "zero" unless they can get self-driving to work. Considering I think that's a long way off (Musk said it would be 2019🤣), and GM and Ford's systems are currently better, they may really have no other plans to grow and innovate. And the ridiculous cyber truck is not going to save them.

I think the software and FSD was always the wholly grail on his mind … to get there, he knew the car cannot be another Prius or something as uninspiring and slow, as he would not sell many. So the cars are a byproduct of the software and FSD effort, which he really needs and wants to win ….

Agreed. As a matter of fact, the TM3/Y didn't have a driver pod because the driver was supposed to become irrelevant.

I ordered a Model 3 Performance and a Polestar 2 around the same time in April, thinking I would cancel one or the other. They both showed up for delivery at the same time. We decided to go through with both and picked them up on Tuesday, this week. My gut feeling all along was that I liked the Polestar better but my wife wasn’t sure. After a few days with both cars, I think my gut was right, and my wife is right there with me.

I did really like the experience of charging the Tesla at one of their Superchargers, which I tried out even though I didn’t need the juice. The increased range of the Tesla could also be a big player for us, living in the Midwest where we travel longer distances with fewer chargers available and have to deal with cold weather. It’s also ridiculously fast. Other than that, our initial thoughts are that the Polestar is just a more comfortable, attractive and user-friendly car, and a better value overall.

Will probably give it a few months and then decide whether to keep both or sell the Tesla. No way I’ll let the P2 go, regardless…. I’ll be watching these prices. So far, it looks like there’s very little risk for us.

You're exactly right - Polestar is a more balanced, friendly and comfortable car, like a family guy that makes a good husband, but unfortunately a lot of people like an extreme car like Tesla more that promises magic self driving (even if it's just adaptive cruise control with lane keeping + clunky self parking) and has unnecessarily low 0-60 times to brag about.

Depending how often you plan to travel longer distances requiring reliable charging, this could be huge, because the other networks are still not even close, in North America. Tesla SC is just far far ahead, in volume and mainly reliability …. It’s hit and miss in many regions for the other networks.
