Having been at the unveiling on Wednesday, I can tell you guys you're in for an absolute treat!

The deposit was charged to my credit card this morning...but it was for $500, not $1000. I swear it was supposed to be a $1000 deposit, wasn't it?

1) Might qualify for the $7500 tax credit
2) Probably better build quality. I'm Chinese and I'm not even wild about the prospect of a Chinese-built car.
The P2s, all Chinese built, have had excellent build quality.

It was stated as $1000 on the website configurator after you finish building, but I got charged $500 as well. Maybe they'll finish charging the remainder of the $500 after a final decision is made on orders and manufacturing is given a GO.

I got my order in on launch day and was charged the full $1000 by Polestar Bellevue (my local space).

I think the Polestar 3 looks like a fitting and good next step for the brand. While I love our little P2, next on my docket is the Rivian R1S, we have an early reservation with the original pricing which nicely specced is just about $80,000 (and hopefully we'll be grandfathered into the $7,500 non income capped tax credit with our reservation, but that remains to be seen. A little bit of apples to oranges for sure. I expect that the P3 will be quite a bit more dynamic on road.

There are some serious quality issues with the Rivian's right now; let's hope they get on top of them. There are some major items that I still haven't seen with Rivian's like Polestars is the establishment of a strong after sales service model. Time will tell.

I got a call & text message today from the Bellevue Polestar space congratulating me & confirming my order. Not a big deal, but connecting with an actual human did get me excited that my order is real. I’ve had a Rivian ordered for 2+ years and got nothing but generic mass-emails. It’s the little CS things that make the difference…

No phone call but a nice email from the polestar cube in Dallas (telling me to pay the $500 deposit, when I already paid it through the configurator). 😇. He was fine but seemed a bit clueless about the process. 🙂

Totally agree!! I was so angry that LiDAR not option at debut & finding out we’d have to cancel & reorder 2nd Quarter 2023 vs option to add on esp since not delivering b4 end 2023. Dealer calmed me and stated we’d keep place in line & see if they can add or keep place w/o starting all over. Granted it’s wishful thinking but the Space rep communication was great compared to corporate stamped reply.

A question about the LiDAR, will this be an additional cost option over the drivers package that’s already on the car? Similar to how Tesla has the “advanced autopilot” feature that costs more than the standard autopilot lane keep assist etc? I want to make sure I’m getting everything I paid for, but I’m not particularly interested in full autonomous driving if it’s an additional cost option over what’s coming on my current order.

I definitely think answer is Yes. Which is why making us place new order vs adding on to debut order. They incl pkgs in initial order hence higher than expected $. They will do more pkg options off base price incl addl price for LiDAR incl In performance pack so expect cost to go up a bit but that’s a deal breaker for me w/o the lidar talked about for 3 years. Ingenthal pointed out LiDAR feature but negated to mention still not avail yet.

And this note from Polestar today! Deliveries will begin Q4, 2023.

Curious to see how Volvo approaches this LIDAR stuff on their EX90 at launch.

Had a PS2 now for 2 years - build quality from China is excellent! At the end of the day they are backed by Volvo who are pretty solid when it comes to build quality.

Chinese manufacturing has a reputation for being cheap and nasty, when in effect the customer chain is the party that wants it that way. Chinese manufacturer's can and do make some top rated products, as long as the specifications, and the QC/QA regime to enforce them, call for that level of quality. And you need an end user prepared to pay for that level of quality. As a generalisation, they have cottoned onto the fact that they are comfortable to make goods at any price-point. Whereas say, German engineers may have minimum levels of quality that to drop below would go against their inherent nature, the Chinese would be quite happy to go as low or as high as necessary to fill a market demand.

Anyway I digress. The P3 is a nice looking vehicle, but its out of my pricing league for serious consideration.
Build quality of my Polestar 2 is excellent, so have no issue with ordering a P3
