Makes me look old but it was the driving school which was cheapo and used really old cars, the driving instructor “Bert” chained smoked through the lesson and also had a hip flask (image that now!). Also on more than one occasion during the lessons we stopped outside a house were a women in a negligee answered the door and he went in for 20 minutes leaving me outside waiting!

No idea of the car I took my driving test in, back in 1970. Practised in a Morris 1100 and a Ford escort.

1988 Honda Civic wagon. It was manual and the MTO officer testing me didn't like how I shifted. Apparently you are to hold 1st gear for the entire left turn. Anyway I passed first try, would have been 16 in 1997.

I might make you feel old now. I learned in my instructor’s car and it was a 1997 Ford Fiesta.

There's no shame in being old. I'm somewhat surprised I made it this far! (Insert snarky comment about shame and a Ford Fiesta here.)

VW Derby in yellow - bit of an oddity! Looks better than I remembered it actually...

Lived up to its name by clearing a hedge 3 months after I passed my test
