Seems some cars, but not all, have an issue with the battery warmer for preconditioning
"We have also had around 20 polestar 2 coming back to us after being delivered to the customer because of the unit that is supposed to heat the battery pack isn’t getting enough ohm "

Slightly concerning indeed. What are the symptoms of the preconditioning problem, anyone know? (Apart that is from the possible link to the 12v being drained)

This sounds potentially more serious because warming up the traction battery is essential to charging property.

Also for cooling if it starts to overheat? We have noticed after driving the car the fan will cut in a couple of times (very noisy) when parked, presumably for heat dissipation?

All German owners received the following email today, which seems to indicate Polestar getting more proactive in their communications and they confirm the missing features will be there before 2021:

Thank you for supporting Polestar in this exciting early period of our brand.

Some customers have asked us for more information about function updates. We appreciate their interest and would like to inform you about what is coming up in the near future. Our goal is to provide you with an optimal driving experience through new technologies.

This includes functionalities such as the digital key, over-the-air updates, the time setting for pre-air conditioning and the remote function of the Polestar App. These are currently being fine-tuned before they are available to you. At the moment we expect these updates to be available by the end of the year. As soon as these features are available, we will contact you with full details for an update of your Polestar 2, which can be obtained from a Polestar authorized service point. All Service Points can be found on our website. 22

Many of our customers from all over the world have already shared their joy of driving the first Polestar 2 models with us. We, for our part, are happy to receive any kind of feedback - this is the only way we can continuously develop ourselves. Thanks to your feedback we know, for example, that some of the first cars we delivered still have some initial difficulties. Dealing with these challenges and finding solutions as quickly as possible is our top priority. If you have any difficulties with your vehicle or simply have questions, please contact Polestar Support. 1The colleagues will be glad to help you.

We want you to know that we always have an open ear for you and that we want to develop continuously with the help of your experience and feedback. Your satisfaction is our highest priority.

Here's some recent Q&A I had with Polestar via email. Collaborates with the German forum about available by the end of the year, and not from the end of the year (i.e. any time in 2021)

Thank you for reaching out to us, and I apologise it has taken a short while to have a response on this email (I chased for answers after 7 days). I will try to answer your questions in the same order they have been received.

Firstly, we are indeed expecting the release of all of the features on the Polestar App to be ready by the end of 2020.

Yes, your updates until OTA is completed would be needing to be actioned at a Polestar Specialist, which are operating inside of Volvo Service centers. All of these centers will be approved for Polestar Support.

We will inform you of updates due to your vehicle in this time period, and we will be able to offer a brief description of what this update entails.

Update frequency is TBC at this stage.

Regarding climate pre-conditioning - This will become available on your app.

I will come back to you regarding climate pre-conditioning from inside the car.

Planned remote functions from the app are featured on the below link:
Polestar.com | Polestar 2 car app.

To note, all Polestars will be delivered with the most up-to-date software updates.

We are indeed aware of the community involved with the Polestar 2 and we are actively taking on as much feedback as possible in the aim to make sure we uphold the high standards expected from us.

Best regards,
Your Polestar Team.

My original questions

I have some questions and clarifications please

Regarding "Right now, we expect these feature updates to be made available from the end of this year.”.

Does this mean by the end of this year? So all outstanding services will be in place before the end of this year?
Does it mean that they will be available from the end of this year so 2021 at the very earliest?

Regarding OTA (Over the Air Updates). Until this is available :-
Will I need to visit an approved Polestar garage to receive updates?
Will I be able to get these updates from any Volvo dealership in the UK?
How will I be notified when updates are available?
Will you detail what is contained in each update?
What update frequency is expected?
If updates are not from Volvo dealerships are they from Polestar ’spaces’ (the only one of which I’ve heard is in London?)

Regarding climate preconditioning
I assume this means you cannot precondition remotely from an app (because no app is available yet)?
Can you still precondition by setting a timer from the dashboard in the car? Is this feature active/installed/ready to use from car delivery, or is this from the end of this year too?

What vehicle remote functions are planned from the app?

Finally. I hope you are monitoring the Polestar forums because there is a growing concern from more and more people about the roll out of this car. The forum is an excellent source of honest customer feedback, and timely/honest communication from Polestar is absolutely key to keeping your new customers happy.

I look forward to some specific answers

Yours expectedly

More on updates - this time with a timeline (non more insinuations around before end 2020, shortly after end 2020, in 2021,...) (on UK FAQ site - just added...)
