Has anyone been able to get clarification from polestar regarding this price increases and impact to current orders.
Will polestar honor the original price or move to update existing orders to reflect updated pricing?
Poletar honors the price the moment you bought it, this can of course work two ways.
You did not buy a MY25 version bascially (although I doubt there will be any difference), you pre-ordered a special launch version so you have some benifits financially (unless you now don't want all the options).

What I found so far:
  1. Improved rear window
  2. Active road noise cancellation on Plus Package
  3. Non performance models DON'T have the gold Brembo brakes
  4. Performance models have an extra label on the smart zone
1. I do expect the same rear window on the launch editions, it's not a big change, but since production only started about now it would be a bit strange to have a few thousand cars with a different rear window, including havingt to stock them for just those cars for replacement...
2. The noise cancellation is a software feature, so I am sure the launch editions have this as well... Probably was not in development/ready when they announced launch editions, but is now.
3. This is really nice touch for Launch edition customers.
4. It might be added to the launch editions as well, would make sense.. or you can have it added later of course.

I do like the seatbelts from the plus package with the yellow stripe, wonder if you can order them by part and have them installed afterwards on our launch editions...

Yeah, with deliveries about a month apart between the launch models and the 2025 models that doesn't really make sense to have these differences.

Not if you ordered the performance model ;)

It's not on the launch edition models that are in the inventory, but for me it doesn't really matter, on a midnight PS3 it would stand out too much.

Yeah they look cool, I might even prefer them over the yellow ones in the performance model.

I had a chat with the support about point 1 and 2. This is first-line support so maybe take the answers with a grain of salt.
1. Different hardware in Launch Edition vs. MY25
2. Both software and hardware changes between Launch Edition vs. MY25

This is just a bit stupid. They’re really not good at telling those who have ordered what is going on.

apparently the range of the Launch Edition is different to the MY25… despite anticipated delivery being the same? How does this work; their factory must be so confused.

I think the range is due to the smaller rims available now 20" vs 21".
It does not change when you change tire, but a bigger tire size will always reduce range.

Polestar itself replied to a question on their forum regarding the side windows over 6 months ago that this is:

"when first launched, Polestar 3 will come equipped with both the Pilot and Plus pack as standard, which includes privacy laminated acoustic glass. This initial package also features an IR windscreen and laminated acoustic lower rear windscreen."

Thats perfect, thanks for the confirmation. The active noice cancellation must by a software thing.

The active noice cancellation must by a software thing.
That's not clear yet, according to polestar support there are differences between the MY2025 and MY2024 hardware,..

So the active noise cancellation is part of the B&W upgrade and is a software feature, so why/what is the difference between the launch edition and MY25 hardware?

When I visited the space in Amsterdam for the P3 the infotainment software was still in development and they could only demonstrate default sound settings and nothing was configurable yet (I wanted to compare the P3 B&W with my B&W in my XC60).

As part of the software development they now also include active noise cancelation as part of the B&W upgrade in the plus pack. I really cannot imagine or understand if this is featue is not part of the launch edition as the B&W upgrade is included.

The support told me there is a hardware difference but i highly doubt it.
Launch edition have hardware to amplify back seat passengers voice to the front seat.

I do hope you're right. And sure there is software involved, but it wouldn't surprise me if the new feature depends on more microphones that are only present on the MY2025 model. Until Polestar officially confirms it stays unclear.

Polestar told me this morning that there are hardware differences, but they don't have a full list of difference between the model years yet.

Same in Sweden, prices went up with about 100K SEK compared to before, at least fully spaced with performance pack.

Good to have the Launch edition on order!
In the Netherlands, I tried to configure the same car I have preordered from the beginning and I got a price hike of 12k€… 😐.

Wow they must be really struggling with the order bank if there is inventory available straight away.
Not really. When companies launch a new car they launch the line producing long series of exactly the same specs to train the production lines. Usually are sold as launch editions

I talked to them today, same message hardware difference….also that the lower back window on the launch edition is not a laminated glass, this is only for MY25. They must have had a good reason to change that so early, wonder what the reason is, will it really have an impact on the noice level? Is it common that cars has the back window laminated? Not really heard about it before.

As soon as the cars are available for a drive I will go and try it, if I’m not happy with the noice level not sure what I’m doing, don’t want to pay 10k EUR more for same spec except for the noice cancelling and the rear window. I have an Etron so that’s a good benchmar.

Is their evidence outside of the images on the website that launch editions will have the gold/upgraded brakes? I wonder if that's just a leftover from the earlier configuration assets. I also noticed looking though 'Inventory' that the Launch Editions have the Polestar logo in the pano roof, whereas the configurator models do not. I thought the low-yield issue on the lighted star was PS4 specific.

Something to keep in mind at least WRT units for North America (or at least USA); the domestic plant is supposed to go online Q3/Q4 of this year. It has been noted that the first (Launch) vehicles should originate from China build, but that the MY25 units will likely be built domestically. So that might have something to do with changes in hardware, too.

Yes, the brakes are noted as standard equipment on the launch edition, at least on the Swedish page that’s listed under the cars in stock. Also intresting that the cars in stock have different range numbers depending on wheel size, also seems like not only wheel size is impacting but also a smaller impact on other extras as leather. I assume the cars are heavier with the ventilated seats and message.. performance version gets slightly lower range compared to a standard with opted with 22 inch. 588 VS 554, with leather you are getting 1 KM less range.

Polestar themselves said the glass is there on the launch editions as well: see their own community forum: https://community.polestar.com/conv...star-3/privacytinted-glass-for-the-polestar-3-acoustic/6513426719031d67c855e2d9
