Just talked to Mike. Emails are ramping up slowly as they see how website software is going. Expect it to increase fairly rapidly now.

Also, of particular interest, is that Mike has been told software will be updated before deliveries that includes OTA capabilities. This means that, if all goes well, when Polestar flips the switch, our cars will wake up and be ready for the OTA updates.

October, for us east coasters is still a possibility.

After some back and forth, on my suggestion the "IT staff" manually accepted the trade in on the backend and moved me past that step. From there I was successfully moved through and completed then credit application. Now I'm waiting for Polestar San Jose to contact me.

I was told I could have my car delivered any day the two weeks of Oct 20-Nov 02. I'm intrigued by the comment that OTA is going to be available soo. I wonder if I should make the delivery the latest possible?

The OTA will not be available. The software in the car will have the capability when it's initialized by Polestar.

I was told long ago that the North American software is different and is not necessarily on the same update schedule. It was heavily implied by Alane that we would have OTAs (this was back when I was demanding a promise that they‘d do the OTA for free). But who the heck knows.

I'm just wondering if my car would need to be shipped back to LA for the OTA update. I can live without the features that are not available today, it is just the shipping consideration that matters to me.

Before today, I would have said more likely than not, you'd have to ship it back. But now, I think there's a better than 50/50 chance you won't have to.

Maybe it is regularly phoning home and it's just waiting for something to respond. My Tesla chargers are constantly looking up some Amazon web server to see if there are updates. Totally depends on how they are implementing OTA.

more seriously I could see them having it so the security is taken care of more on the server side so you can ship with all the code at the ready and then once the server side is set up for secure OTA a software switch is enabled so the user just has to accept and authorize it.
not sure why that would be different in Europe but as an American I’ll blame socialism

Was told yesterday that OTA is mid year, and it is indeed a physical install either at the service center, or more likely in my case a technician coming to me. I also am going to do a zoom walk through the car before they ship, so I'm glad that I have the checklist at the ready from the forum.

I've now spoken with the US rep in NY and they are ready to deliver my car but they claim that I have to get through the website to get all my info in. And of course that's impossible. I'm stuck on Add Ons and the next step (credit app) remains grayed out. Nothing I do seems to be able to change that. Any ideas or is this just their way of stringing me along until later?
