Hi all,

New member here (hello to all), I have a question about weasels & the polestar.
I ordered a Polestar 2 LRSM yesterday as new company car. My first EV, I'm looking forward to driving this beautiful car.
Now I drive a Skoda Superb and today I had problems with a weasel biting electrical cables in the Skoda.
Car had to go to service & I learned that weasels like to bite electrical wires because of the smell.

So now I wonder... if weasels like to destroy electrical part on a skoda superb what will happen if I receive a fully electrical P2?
I did watch some YT reviews and the engine seems to be completely closed in. No easy way for the weasel to reach critical wires.
Is this correct or is the P2 vulnerable to weasel attacks?

I assume any electric car is vulnerable to weasel bites. They will find a way in. On the upside, as opposed with an ICE, they electrocute themselves, payback!

I think you mean martens although they are a member of the weasel family of course. It’s common enough as I think you must know, Germany was the first country I lived in that had a line item in my insurance for marten damage :)

Damage to electrical cables does happen in some vehicles. I don't know if Polestar 2 will have this issue as the bottom plastics seal the underside fairly well. Though mice and order critters can still get in. You could always try spraying the underside of the car with wolf urine...

Note: I have no idea if this works but it'll make for an interesting story!

Last time I checked, I could see the motor cables through the rear wheel well.

And no, neither martens nor weasles will electrocute themselves as the battery is disconnected when the car is parked - even if the bite through and touch both battery cables.

Ok, this is want I was looking for, if a Martens/weasel wants he or she will get to the critical wires.
I will not panic to much but need to start looking at a solution to avoid problems.
As said my Superb needed maintenance after previous visit of the animal.

Some ideas that I found online:

Block engine openings with wire screen.
Use products that don't smell good to them: peppermint oil, powdered fox urine, used cat litter, cat hair, dog hair, Pine-Sol, Irish Spring soap, red pepper, and laundry dryer sheets.
Or use a store bought rodent spray repellent.
