The funky little animation on the rear light cluster when you unlock with the remote (perfectly possible to miss this treat if you always use keyless entry)

You can turn off the vehicle while pressing the “radio” play/pause button a few seconds.

 

I really like this one for peace of mind when leaving the car

 

You can get the wing mirrors to auto dip on reverse (or do it manually by pressing the wing mirror button twice)

Could this be related to the issue where people were finding the mirrors stuck in the down position? Perhaps it was a commanded event through the button? Or were the reported issues just a single mirror?


Great thread idea, BTW.

 

If you enable this feature there are a few scenarios where quickly getting in the car and driving off means the driver's mirror doesn't come back up. I've had to manually move it up.

This makes sense as you would be BUFFETED TO DEATH at any speed above 60MPH with the windows open!

 

You can reboot the infotainment in secure boot, i.e no third party apps, by holding the turn off power button for > 10 seconds...

 

For times of weak 4G signal (or 4G just stops working), YT music app can store offline music. Press the gear/settings icon on YT music (only works when stationary) and you can set a slider on how much offline storage to use and whether to download over wifi only/4G.

Takes a little while to populate, but then offline music comes up as an option on the app

Does this work with Spotify as well if you have the paid up account?

 

There is a pen holder clip in each of the small cubby holes in the centre tunnel (found today and wanted to let the world know)

So I ditched the big keys and only used the little one with no buttons. Took me a while to suss out how to lock the car; at first I assumed it would lock as you walk away and unlock as you get closer.... so I tried it (leaving keys on floor further and further away). Nope.
Then I worked out to press my thumb on the handle. Doh !

 

Thumb on the door handle? Where? What position? Same problem here. Car does not lock automatically.

 

There is actually a rain sensor on/off button on the wiper stalk (I'd just had it on intermittent wipe and was adjusting the sensitivity wheel)

I could have done with that before my journey in the rain today .... could have sworn there was a rain sensor 🤣

Did you spot that front lights do something similar.

It turns on the automatic main beam (matrix lights)... which is very nice...

 

The line on the door handle, this is where you press. You need to have the key on you for this to work.

I did not read it, I've owned Volvo's for the past 32 years!

 

No need to physically press. Just touch with the back of your fingers.

 

More similarities than differences in fact. I was immediately at home in the P2. Pilot assist, cameras, everything is the same or similar. Yes the sceen is different but the design of the controls and what they do is very similar to a current Volvo.

 

I drove a Volvo for the first time this week and now see what you mean! For everyone who's not driven Volvo's before or recently, (or not read the manual!) a lot of this thread could be new information to them. I'm glad I didn't spoil the surprise and getting in to the Polestar was a genuine new experience for me having no Volvo experience

 

But not the touch pads on the door handles, which is what I was referring to...

 

All three of my Volvos have the touch pad on the door handle. It more of a indent than the line on the P*.

 

It's exactly the same as every current Volvo. Put your hand inside the door handle to unlock, gently touch the back of it to lock. It's a capacitive sensor - you don't need to apply any pressure, just brush any part of your hand against it.

 

Ah ok, I must admit I was under the impression that was new for the Polestar! Every day's a schoolday .

 

Yup, been on all new Volvos since the SPA Xc90 came out in 2014.

With the exception of the infotainment system and the pixel headlights, I don't think there's any other tech in the car that is not taken directly from an existing Volvo or that is shared volvo development (powertrain).

 

It seems that Volvo has put all it’s techno stuff into Polestar.

 

I personally liked finding the little cloth in the box in the glove compartment. THEN... finding that you can hold down the white 'home' button on the touchscreen for 2-3 seconds to enter screen clean mode. Lovely touch and a nice and easy way to clean the screen without changing a million settings randomly.

 

Dave just reminded me of something on a different thread. When I got the car, I tried 'sitting behind myself' (the way journo's do) to check leg room in the back seat. Behind the driver was fine. I was disappointed behind the passenger seat that there wasn't much floor space for my feet under the passenger seat

Until my wife got in passenger seat the next day and adjusted the seat height. Problem solved. Doh! missed that one. Not sure if they default delivery position is lowest setting.

 

I’m 5’10 & there’s more room in the back than I expected. Not the expanse of the Passat estate I was driving but comfy for 4 I’d say

 

I wonder if it will happily crush the feet of a rear passenger if you then lower it down again!

 

Ouch! Doubt it has any fancy safety device of pressure sensor (although it is Volvo heritage). Assuming mine was on its lowest setting I could just about squeeze my size 11's under, so I don't think it could/would crush your feet to pancakes.
