What to do if the 12V battery dies and you can’t open the frunk

Hi everyone,
I’ve had a serious electrical failure that Polestar and Volvo have been unable to resolve for more than six weeks now – I describe that issue in another thread.

This thread is just to share a trick I didn’t know about. If this is common knowledge and I was simply unaware, my apologies in advance.

In this car, the 12V battery is powered by the main high-voltage battery – there’s no alternator as in a petrol car. If the 12V battery runs flat, it has to be charged. That’s why someone on the forum recommended always keeping a portable jump starter in the car. I’ll definitely follow that advice—if I ever get my car back.

However, if the 12V battery dies while the frunk and the doors are closed, you can’t access the lever to open the frunk.

At the Volvo workshop they eventually figured out the solution (after puzzling over it for a few days): under the car, near the front left wheel, there’s a small access panel where you can reach the cables to supply power to the 12V battery. We made a video of the process, but it seems I cannot upload it, so I attach a couple of screenshots.
