What's your experience with the matrix lights compared to other brands?

This is the first car I've driven that has matrix lights built in, previously I had the P2 for a few years but 2022 model which did not have matrix lights back then due to supply chain delay, so I don't really have anything to compare with.

My impression after many hours of night driving the P4 is that the matrix lights seems to be somewhat immature, it's doing a good job at avoiding oncoming and cars in front, but ''blinking''a lot when it comes to recognizing signs. Often results in a disco like experience which is somewhat distracting. Can other confirm if they also share the same experience?

They are absolutely horrible. Worst I've had on any car.

It's incredible they can be so terrible compared to the Polestar 2. Setting aside the hardware limitations (there are far fewer addressable pixels in the Polestar 4 -vs- Polestar 2), the software is atrocious.

Had hoped for some improvement to this given my car is now a year old, but no...

It's surprising indeed. Two or three BMWs ago, my car had adaptive headlights that were entirely electromechanical. There were physical shutter blades inside the xenon projectors - completely steampunk solution, yet much more performant and confident than the PS4 system. It's quite an achievement to be so bad.

I've seen a few comments now about the matrix lights 'dimming' for road signs - I had an A7 with 'HD Matrix Lights' a few years back and they were the best lights I've experienced, and they exhibited similar behaviour - dimming to reduce dazzle from road signs, I actually found it to be very useful (even more so compared to my current Velar which reflects incredibly brightly off road signs).

Not yet received my P4 so interested to see how the matrix lights compare to Audi and Range Rover - both of which have been pretty good.

My BMW had adaptive laser lights and they were excellent. After the car was damaged in an accident, I had an Audi Q7 as a courtesy car and the standard LED lights were poor in comparison. I am hoping that the P4 headlamps will be better than the Q7’s, even if they cannot match the BMW.

My 2022 Tesla Model 3 was better, in the sense that I could clearly see the light bending depending on the road and traffic conditions. I can barely notice any movement in the P4 lights. I don't think the Tesla even had Matrix LED technology.
