I hope the P3 will be a more practical SUV rather than another coupe-like crossover EV (Tesla X and Y, Mustang Mach-E, etc.). I feel my P2 is almost SUV-like with AWD, higher ride height, rear hatch, and rugged details like black fender trims, and think the P3 concept rendering is a little too close the P2 and would rather see a model with a more pronounced cargo area, like a true SUV or even a wagon (or better yet, a stylish shooting brake version).
I think there are a lack of SUVs in the market that have a uniquely EV ground-up design to differentiate them from their ICE and hybrid variants. A good example is the Mercedes EQC which looks a lot like their GLA but with a sleeker (but less inspiring) front end.
I think SUV and cross over type vehicles are probably going to be prevalent for a while (Mach E type cars) as most manufacturers will find it easier to jack the floor pan to accommodate the battery packs on their initial launch vehicles.
Personally I'm not interested in an SUV, just a plain saloon (with hatch/liftback) is all I want. The P*2 is actually lower in height overall than my BMW 3 series GT (just), so irrespective of its sitting on the XC40 platform and having a slightly higher ride height, I'm a happy 🐰.
Some have pointed out that the P2 has more clearance than the Mach-E. That's fine with me. A little extra ground clearance can make a difference when there's debris in the road and when there's deep snow.
I voted 'yes' because in another five years, I'm hoping there's better charging infrastructure, and my current Plug-in XC90 will be at about the ten year mark, and ready to be retired. So, not by 2022, but maybe by 2026. 😜
I would prefer a PS2 with more space, not an SUV. Have owned SUVs (LRs, VWs) but I enjoy estate cars much more. A PS designed fast EV estate would quicken my pulse (and replace my 325 hp V60 R design).
