Will end of federal EV credit raise lease payments?

I just saw a local Fox affiliate news broadcast suggesting that lease payments for EV's will go up immediately after the suspension of the credit on September 30. I tried to get a lease from Polestar but ended up buying mine because they wouldn't "allow" it (long story); I do know that the credit would have been incorporated into the monthly payments, so this report makes some sense to me, though I'm somewhat incredulous that such a huge effect on so many people would not have come to public attention until now. Do you with leases know this to be true? Has Polestar reached out with any notices, including (ideally) an indication that they might absorb that change? Just interested.

Typical anti EV propaganda… look at the source :)

Anyway, lease payments will go up, since the tax credit represented a cap cost reduction which will go away, unless manufacturers step up with discounts to compensate…. But only for new lessees after Sept 30! If you have an existing lease your payments are not changing. They already got the tax credit, and a lease is a contract that can’t be changed unless both parties agree anyway…

Agree. Since this knuckle dragging administration returned to power, I've seen the anti-EV rhetoric increase dramatically from right-wing news sources. With EV adoption across the western world increasing, its disheartening to see it stagnating here because of the influence of big oil lobbying in government decisions. I'm glad I bought my car as I want to enjoy driving it and not worried about lease mileage restrictions and buy-outs etc.
