1/4 Mile times, before and after performance upgrade

I have a 2021 LE with Performance Pack. Standard 300kW right now. I plan on upgrading to the Performance Upgrade very soon with the 350kW.
The 2 things holding me back is, I am going to pay for it with the refund on my Volvo CPO wrap/extension I had on my previous S90, that I traded while still under the first CPO part. So I should get a full refund. Plus I really want to take it to my local drag strip on a test and tune night, for a real "before" number, then after the upgrade, I will go back and get an "after" number.
The problem with that plan was/is RAIN. They hoped to open March 30th, and it has been too cold, too wet, too flooded now since. This is 4 weeks in a row they are cancelled, now I hope for Saturday April 27th.
The track is Keystone Raceway Park, east of Pittsburgh, PA

I figured I'd create a thread just for this, and will update as I find out more.

Looking forward to the results! I'm also considering the Performance Upgrade for my car, but I'm not sure if it's truly worth it or not

From my quick Google search, before and after should be in the range of 12.7 to 12.3. Roughly. Search for 2023 LRDM 0-60 and quarter mile times versus 2023 LRDM Performance Pack 0-60 and quarter mile times. One nice thing about EVs, 0-60 and quarter mile times are generally very consistent, unlike say a manual transmission ICE vehicle like a Mustang or Camaro.

STILL waiting for my warranty refund from Volvo. I messaged the salesperson that I bought it through and said I'm not getting replies anymore from the guy that was supposed to be helping me, and... of course, he no longer works there. Hopefully this doesn't restart the 4-6 weeks thing again. It has already been 7 weeks since I sent the last signed paper.
The good thing is, when I asked the salesperson, she instantly replied, and said "I am personally on this for you"

Well, TONIGHT is the night. Heading to Keystone Raceway Park for Test and Tune tonight. Cgarginbt CHARGING to 100%, hope to reach the track at 94%-95% for at least 1 full power run. Also, supposedly my refund check should be sent today, so the Performance Upgrade will be very soon, then I'll go back and compare.
Also, I've been using Car Stats Viewer and I notice whenever I floor it, current spikes to about 316kW for a coupke COUPLE seconds, then drops to about 285kW. I will try to get a camera setup tonight, but not sure if I will.

First run, I'm #178 left lane, lined up with a TRX! Battery at 93%.
12.8@110. I'll take it. Hoped for 12.6 @112 or so. I'll get one more run in a bit. Also I'll post a video from the stands tomorrow.

2nd run was almost identical as expected, a tiny smidgen slower, and the TRX still whomped me [also as expected] . (His MPH was limited due to small wheels/tires and hitting speed limiter way to early]

I am trying to post a VERY bad 360° video of my 2nd run. I have an old Samsung Gear 360 camera that I literally wedged in the steering wheel between the top of the wheel and the hub. SO, you can't really see squat, but can kinda hear the announcer via my car's radio, and see the TRX next to me, and see my ugly mug at a nice angle 🤫

Also, BOOYA!!!@!@
According to the USPS Informed Delivery, my Volvo Warranty refund check is coming today!
I'll be ordering the Performance Upgrade very soon!

Here is the video, again, it is a 360° one. While it is running, click and drag to view any angle. And ignore my Matthew McConaughey finger issues. I have severe CIPN in fingers/legs from chemo last year.
Positive and/or funny comments only please.

Well tonight might be the other "Tonight's the Night". I got the Performance Update 2 days ago, the App recognized it today. And tonight just happens to be another Test and Tune night. SO, I hope to test it again.
I will try, but not likely, to get a camera setup (or 2-3).
I am trying to borrow a helmet as well, if not, I will ask at the track, maybe.

Sorry, I missed replying to this.
Not sure which parts you didn't understand, hopefully this helps someone/anyone.
1 - I corrected typos, I Charged car to 100%
2 - Keystone is a local to Pittsburgh area ÂĽ Mile Drag Strip
3 - Test and Tune is everyone lines their cars up and makes runs, but nobody wins anything. You aren't technically racing the other car, just trying to find out what you and your own car can do. And practice for the people that race regularly.
4 - CarStatsViewer is an awesome app for in the car itself. You have to ask to get added to a test group, then install it through the beta app process. They are reportedly in the process of getting Polestar to approve it as an official app.

3 & 4 answered my questions, thank you lol.

Is that app worth having? How do I sign up if I want to get it?

Well, I just had to run for bloodwork, and just happened to find a flat piece of pavement that just happened to be near a go-kart track. I did 4 runs of 0-60 tests, back and forth each direction same strip of pavement (obviously not a public road).
First 2 were normal (OPD Standard) Test 3&4 were OPD off and Sport mode on
  1. 0-60 4.4" 0-30 2.2"
  2. 0-60 4.2" 0-30 2.1"
  3. 0-60 4.2" 0-30 2.1"
  4. 0-60 4.2" 0-30 2.1"
First impression was I would have bet $10 that the road was downhill for runs 1&3 and uphill for 2&4. I guess not!?!?
Also, I drove less than a mile to the doctors, then went down a longish hill. I left home with battery at 95% and it was still at 95% when I started tests. I bet the battery needed warmed up some maybe? It was very cool this morning, only 46°, and still under 60° when I tested.

As is my habit, I did the math. Given how quickly our cars get to 60 mph (covering a distance of about 55 meters), each 1% slope would change the 0-60 time by about 1.5%, or about 0.06 seconds. So it's entirely possible there was some slope, but it's even a couple percent grade won't really be measurable in these times without better timing equipment than the performance app.

My most recent 0-60 with the launch timer was on a freeway onramp that started flat then headed up a significant slope to get onto the elevated freeway. Probably hit the uphill part at maybe 30-40 mph. Still measured 4.1 sec.

This is what I MUST beat

This was from my 2018 Dodge Challenger 392 Hemi Scat Pack Shaker

My god, do I miss that car. 2nd gear it sounded like it would suck little children from the sides of the road as you watched the Shaker lean from the 475 torques. Now I have basically the same amount of money tied up in this car, and it is even faster(quicker) and almost as much fun AND costs about 1/5 as much to drive.

Nah, too much money. Once I go to the strip, I'll know what I desired. I also know unless another sport-based EV pulls up next to me, I don't have to worry unless it is something extreme and AWD. I know how hard it was to launch my 392 Challenger, even 2nd gear (8sp Auto) would just sit and spin producing smoke on demand, if you just nailed the loud pedal. So a Hellcat on the street, unless it is in a Durango/Jeep, or TRX would have a very rough time, like just about every Mustang as well.
I'm glad to know I got the Upgrade, and it is what it claimed to be. In a way I hope I don't run something like a 12.2, that is getting close to 11s, and if I could remove a couple hundred pounds of stuff, might be doable. I'm considering removing the frunk stuff and trunk floor for kicks tonight, but that won't be apples to apples. Maybe on 2nd run if I go.

I got the download last night and it's on my P2 right now. Make sure you submit the Google form for the track you want to join (I think #10 is the only open one at the moment) and I also joined the German forum and reached out to the track owner directly to let them know I signed up. I got an email back not much later with a link to the download

I would presume that most/all drag strips have been graded so there is no slope (or very minimal), but Draggy will provide that information, and invalidates any run on a road that has a downward (negative) slop of more than 1%. Makes a few 1/100th of a second difference. Upward (positive) slopes will result in a slightly slower times, but will not invalidate the results:

Oh, for anyone who tracks their car (at least in the US), I believe every track requires a helmet as well as a host of other safety requirements, that the host of the event can provide you with. Make sure it has the proper automotive (not motorcycle) certification? Things changed after 2022. if one does any tracking with regularity, strongly suggest you invest the money and get a quality helmet. Air flow is critically important on hot days, when on the track for more than a lap of two:

OK, I did go out Friday evening and made 3 more runs.
Summation, car IS quicker, definitely. Not quite as much as I hoped, but close.
Also, I was fairly dumb, stupid, brain fog, rookie move, that my first 2 runs of 3 had incorrect final trap speed.
Why you all ask, how can everything else on a time slip be correct other than the final MPH at the end of the ÂĽ mile?
Well, for those of you that don't know, they don't measure you speed AT the end. They measure the time between 2 points right before and at the end to figure out the average speed over that last bit. And why was mine incorrect? I was lifting as I passed the first mark, not the second. So not only did I lost that smidgeon of acceleration, but I decelerated a good bit. My ETs weren't affected much, not at 110mph over 60' or whatever it is, but my MPH was wonky.

Rounding to the 100th of a second and tenths in MPH my best run before the Performance Update was
1/8 mile ET 8.24 seconds
1/8 mile speed 86.2 MPH
1/4 mile ET 12.79 seconds
1/4 mile speed 110.0 MPH

AFTER Performance update
I made 2 runs where I lifted too early. The 2nd run was better, but they were virtually identical.

1/8 mile ET 8.04 seconds (.2 quicker)
1/8 mile speed 89.9 MPH (3.7 MPH Faster)
1/4 mile ET 12.48 seconds (.31 quicker)
1/4 mile speed 109.4 MPH (.6 MPH SLOWER) <- Me being dumb

Then my third run after I figured out that I was the problem, not my car or math...
1/8 mile ET 8.01 seconds (.23 quicker)
1/8 mile speed 89.9 MPH (3.7 MPH faster)
1/4 mile ET 12.43 seconds (.36 quicker) (Now the quickest car I ever drove/owned)
1/4 mile speed 112.8 MPH (.28 MPH faster)

Weather was similar, maybe not quite as chilly, not that it matters much.
Also, I am wondering if the battery pack was warmed up, it would be quicker? I did think of putting on the heat at max for a while, but didn't do it much. But the car was overall a smidge quicker each run, when you'd think that it would be a bit slower as peak voltage drops.
I was hoping for an ET of under 12.4 and dreaming of a 12.2x. Also, I was expecting more like 114/115 MPH.
Anyway, I am pleased. I have a quick car, fun, cheap to drive, no drama, and my wife approves/permitted it all. A win all the way around!
Maybe I'll go again when it is HOT. So warm pack, and thin air. And remove everything loose in the car/frunk, maybe even pop the back seat bottom out, mats, all of that. And maybe get someone that isn't over 250 with clothes and helmet on! (Yes I wore a helmet this time!)
Also, video links to come.

First run against a modified supercharged 2017 Corvette Z06 running 10s
Second run against a modified Mustang of some kind. (I ran against him the 3rd run and he red lighted (trying to beat me))

Awesome info! Thanks, Pioneer!

I'm curious how/if those numbers would change after bumping up the Speed Limiter setting in OrBit đź‘€

#44 ·
Zero, never going that fast. Maybe in a ½ mile event. I wish it had a bit more torque off the line, that's about it. It never approaches slipping (at the prepped track). I did have Sport mode on FWIW as well. The only thing I can think of that could possibly be done, is to swap in the gear ratio of the Single Motor cars.
Supposedly they are 10.5ish:1 instead of 8.x:1 So 20% more torque at the wheels, but fades earlier to the same max power, and lower max speed until the motors grenade, but should still be good for 130mph, since that was pub lished for the single motor (actually 129)
