20” RTX Gothenburg wheels - Performance Pack

I have the Performance Package so I know how challenging it is to find wheels that can clear the Brembo calipers and a design of wheel that suits the look of the car, so I decided to post my successful setup. A week ago I received my snow tire/wheel set from Canada Wheels. Originally I wanted to go with black wheels so I don’t have to worry about keeping it clean in the winter, but after seeing some Polestars with black aftermarket wheels I didn’t really like the look of a big black hole in each of the wheel wells (especially with the black unpainted wheel arches).

I decided to go with the 20” RTX Gothenburg wheels (made in Canada) in a 2-tone gloss black and machined face. It is a direct replica of the OEM Volvo V60 T6 R-design wheels. There is a member here (tomato1) who has the Replika R221 which is similar in design but it is all-silver painted with no black accents (their setup is also posted here) and with a different offset (which doesn‘t quite work with the rears).
I actually really like the 2-tone machined & black finish as it gives the spokes a very slim and sleek appearance while the black inner potions hides dirt well plus shows off the gold calipers and valve stems (I used aftermarket gold ones on eBay) very nicely. There’s just the right amount of silver to give the wheels some presence without looking too busy or chunky.

There were no fitment issues and I like how more flush the wheels sit with the wheel arches.
I did have a series of issues from the seller, Canada Wheels. One of the wheels arrived later than the other wheels and tires, I was told that i will be receiving two sets of centrecaps (black with logo and plain silver ones) but only received a damaged set of the black logo ones (I want to use plain silver), and I was sent the wrong wheel nut key (manufacturer does not have a replacement). I know we are in the middle of the holidays but I will let you how well Canada Wheels will handle this situation with me.

The snow tires feel surprisingly smooth, comfortable and quiet, even more so than the stock summer tires. So far on snow it feels very confident in handling and braking. It is also very reasonably priced compared to other reputable snow tires.

Here are the specs:
RTX Gothenburg wheels
diameter: 20”, width: 8”, offset: 45, hub: 63.4 (hub-centric), load index: 1653 lbs.
Michelin X-Ice snow tires
size: 245-40R20, load index: 99, speed rating: H.

Best aftermarket wheel set I’ve ever seen on a PS2. Looks great!

I'm looking to get a set of these wheels for my winter setup.
Did you reuse the factory lug bolts, or did you have to get an aftermarket set?
I have an aftermarket set but ended up using the factory bolts and the garage that swap my set out every season ensured they were the proper fit.

So I ended up getting a set of these in black. Checked with the Polestar technician and he didn't foresee any problems from a fit, performance or warranty perspective. I'm planning on using the lug bolts provided, so we'll see. Now just need to find some winter tires for them.

Look fantastic :)

Non wheel-related question :) ... is that Magnesium + Stealth (i.e matte) PPF wrap + Gloss Black PPF wrap on the mirrors + Normal (i.e. none matte) PPF wrap on the other black bits?

My vehicle (sure to arrive soon) is Magnesium + Performance & I've already decided on a Stealth (i.e. matter) PPF wrap but am yet to decide on teh mirrors and black bits.

Yourslook brilliant!

Thanks!
Yes, it’s magnesium and I had the entire exterior wrapped in PPF. Clear satin on the Magnesium parts and gloss black on the black roof strip and shark fin antenna, the mirrors and A- and B-pillars. I went with the black PPF instead of a black vinyl wrap because it is thicker and will last longer.

Hey folks, like others here I'm looking to get this setup. Reseller (1010Tires) is telling me the 2-tone gloss black and machined face ones are not winter certified but that the Gloss Black ones are. 1010 will also not provide a fit guarantee for the Brembos which I can live without if enough folks here have taken the leap and had no issues. Perhaps a question for aowhaus: Any issues after a full Canadian winter with corrosion? This is by far the nicest setup I've seen so I want to pull the trigger on the order but was hoping for a bit more feedback from this group first. Thanks!!

I ordered the black wheels because I read the same thing about the machined ones. From what I remember, the explanation was that the unpainted alloy can have minor corrosion that can lead to the seal between the tire and the wheel loosening, which leads to air and pressure loss. Not sure how much there is to that, but that's what the rationale was.

Yeah .. I really like the Gothenburg wheel but they don’t exist in 19” … plus the winter factor as you mentioned.

Solid black does not go with my Thunder (at least not to my eyes), so I ordered Fast FC04 titanium finish. I like it. We will see how they will hold up.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. @P2TO , do you have any pics of the black RTX Gothenburgs per chance? I'm torn between going down an inch to the Fast FC04 in black for more sidewall for the Montreal roads and sticking with the 20" black Gothenburgs. Thx!

PS: I did contact RTX directly and they still don't provide a fit guarantee on the Gothenburgs for the performance pack and did confirm only the gloss black ones are winter certified.

I just got my 2022 PPP and also saw this post some time ago. Given the limited choice in wheels, I was thinking of just getting winter tires and swapping them on the existing OEM rims. Costco only charges $56 for this if you get the tires from them. As opposed to $51 to swap rims. Since it’s not much of a difference financially and that I may trade this car in 2-3 years (for a P4!), there’s seemingly no point in getting different aftermarket rims.

I get it, peace of mind when parking when the curb is covered in snow, and perhaps corrosion from our Canadian winters; I always purchased different winter rims for these reasons. After my last car however, I vowed not to do this anymore since aftermarket rims killed my range and the look of the car.

Curious to know whether anyone has a bad experience in keeping the 20” OEM rims over winter.

Hey Folks, just wanted to report back on this and thank everyone for their input. In the end I opted to just purchase winter tires and swap on the OEM rims. 4 year lease and excessive use insurance led me to the decision, along with everyone's feedback, to just make the most use of the OEM rims as possible. I opted for the Kumho Wintercraft WP72 so curious to see how they perform vs. the pricier choices. Thanks again!
