I just got my 2022 PPP and also saw this post some time ago. Given the limited choice in wheels, I was thinking of just getting winter tires and swapping them on the existing OEM rims. Costco only charges $56 for this if you get the tires from them. As opposed to $51 to swap rims. Since it’s not much of a difference financially and that I may trade this car in 2-3 years (for a P4!), there’s seemingly no point in getting different aftermarket rims.

I get it, peace of mind when parking when the curb is covered in snow, and perhaps corrosion from our Canadian winters; I always purchased different winter rims for these reasons. After my last car however, I vowed not to do this anymore since aftermarket rims killed my range and the look of the car.

Curious to know whether anyone has a bad experience in keeping the 20” OEM rims over winter.

Not on the car, but this is what these look like in black. I think they'll look great on the car for winter, giving it a bit of a different look across seasons. Still need to figure out what to do with the centre caps... will probably cover/paint/dip the ones that came with the wheels until I figure out a more on-brand solution.

Hey Folks, just wanted to report back on this and thank everyone for their input. In the end I opted to just purchase winter tires and swap on the OEM rims. 4 year lease and excessive use insurance led me to the decision, along with everyone's feedback, to just make the most use of the OEM rims as possible. I opted for the Kumho Wintercraft WP72 so curious to see how they perform vs. the pricier choices. Thanks again!

I also chose these wheels, with Pirelli Sottozero 3XL tires.

For extra clearance, I added some H&R 10mm spacers.
Getting mine put on in a couple weeks. Did you feel uncomfortable with the space without the spacers in? I'm not planning on adding them. The performance summer wheels come pretty close as well.

I‘ve had issues with other cars where stones sometimes get stuck in the narrowest spots between the wheel and caliper. But I haven’t had issues with the stock wheels either, so it’s probably unnecessary. I may remove the spacers next winter.

Post some photos when you get yours!

Look fantastic :)

Non wheel-related question :) ... is that Magnesium + Stealth (i.e matte) PPF wrap + Gloss Black PPF wrap on the mirrors + Normal (i.e. none matte) PPF wrap on the other black bits?

My vehicle (sure to arrive soon) is Magnesium + Performance & I've already decided on a Stealth (i.e. matter) PPF wrap but am yet to decide on teh mirrors and black bits.

Yourslook brilliant!
Thanks!
Yes, it’s magnesium and I had the entire exterior wrapped in PPF. Clear satin on the Magnesium parts and gloss black on the black roof strip and shark fin antenna, the mirrors and A- and B-pillars. I went with the black PPF instead of a black vinyl wrap because it is thicker and will last longer.

Perhaps a question for aowhaus: Any issues after a full Canadian winter with corrosion? This is by far the nicest setup I've seen so I want to pull the trigger on the order but was hoping for a bit more feedback from this group first. Thanks!!
After a winter season the wheels still look like new with no surface corrosion, hazing, discolouration, dulling or pitting (except for some minor curb rash, but that’s my fault!).

I had custom Polestar centrecaps made. The ones I used last season was silver logo on a black background, but recently I ordered the reverse so that the centrecaps blend into the wheel for a cleaner look. I’m going to have my winter set on in a week or so and will post photos.

Thanks!

I used your car as my inspiration :)

Here are my black Gothenburgs ready for winter. I’m liking how it mixes up the look a bit for part of the year. If I can get it lowered, even has BST vibes. Have some “Polestar” centre caps on order so I don’t need to have the RTX logo messing up the look.

I'm looking to get a set of these wheels for my winter setup.
Did you reuse the factory lug bolts, or did you have to get an aftermarket set?
I have an aftermarket set but ended up using the factory bolts and the garage that swap my set out every season ensured they were the proper fit.
