OK folks, did a test drive of the 2023 BMW i7 xDrive60!
Pros:
Spacious, comfortable Luxury
Tons of Standard and available Tech features
Extremely smooth and Quiet ride (auto leveling suspension)
Effortless acceleration (0 to 60 in 4.3 seconds)
HUD
Cons:
Limited Cargo Space
Tech interface is way overcomplicated, not intuitive
Built on a shared ICE platform, so lots of compromises
Rear floor transmission tunnel
I want to thank Stevens Creek BMW for allowing the test drive. I also appreciate that they backed off when I said NO to making a deal. This seems to be a hot seller, as they only had two left. The model I test drove was a 2023 i7 xDrive60, Dual Motor with 536 HP and 549 ft-lbs Torque. First impressions is that it definitely has presence. I'm not a fan of the front grill, but it's not something that's a deal breaker (that would be the price

). It has very comfortable front seats that can be adjusted, and it's very roomy. The front screens catch your attention immediately:

I found them to more eye candy, with too much going on for my liking. Also, it took me a moment to figure out how to start the car and get it in gear, but those familiar with BMW's will feel at home and have no trouble, as it's setup pretty much like their ICE siblings. But my favorite part was putting my foot down on the accelerator. Nothing but pure, smooth silky power! Add instant torque, and you in pure bliss! We hit the freeway, and before I knew it we were doing 98 MPH LoL! Because of the smooth motors and BMW suspension setup, it literally felt like we were doing 50! I recently drove my friends M5 (4.4L TT V8, AWD 8 speed) which is an amazing car, and this thing would eat it's lunch, than steal it's lunch money. All without breaking a sweat

I've driven in a lot of luxury vehicles, and this is by far the smoothest, quietest vehicle I've ever driven as far as luxury vehicles go. The Germans know how to isolate you from the road, and this vehicle is no exception.
What I didn't like was the compromises due to sharing with an ICE platform. No frunk, hump on the rear floor, and smaller trunk. Also, the tech is just unnecessarily over complicated. I did like the HUD, and the fact that it has Android Auto/Apple CarPlay is welcome, because that's all I would probably use.
In conclusion, if you are looking for a Luxury EV, this is definitely luxury comfort. I would 100 percent pick this over a Lucid. For someone who is familiar with German cars, especially BMW, you will feel at home!
