Polestar announced access to SuperChargers. Will provide (sell) adapters by mid November.
Not what I got from Polestar Manhattan. They are expecting the adapters to come in late November, and the price is $253 + tax. They are not taking any pre-orders.Called local space (Toronto) and the response are: "They posted that thing way too early, it won't be available until mid-November" & "We have no info about pricing yet"
Give them time to update based on the announcement. It's not as if they're part of that announcement process. The list they're using is just the list of companies that had not yet announced their access to the network. It's not a functional problem with the adapter itself.Lectron says not yet compatible with Polestar...
"CURRENTLY NOT COMPATIBLE: AUDI, BMW, KIA, LUCID, MAZDA, MERCEDES, MINI, NISSAN, POLESTAR, PORSCHE, STELLANTIS, TOYOTA, VOLKSWAGEN, VOLVO - STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES"
Tried Montreal space, up here it's $310 Canadian rupees (which is ~USD 223). Interesting how the parts have such a different pricing. (another example that came to mind is the tow hitch install after delivery, was quoted CAD2500 including labor but not tax, while I've seen others on this forum being quoted anywhere from 2.4k - 3.1k USD for yall down south)Not what I got from Polestar Manhattan. I think they’re using the “customer support” definition of “support”, as opposed to the technical compatibility term. Obviously it works (for now). But if you have a problem and Tesla finds out you were using a third party adapter — well I’d be surprised Tesla still employs customer support people. This is posted in the Polestar FAQs and this simply isn't true. The A2Z and Lectron adapters are already in wide use.
That's just there to cover their ass, so that inevitably, when someone buys a rando adapter off Alibaba and it welds itself to the charger and/or the car, they can say "we told you not to do that!".View attachment 32192

100%. The reason they don’t recommend third party adapters is because there will inevitably be cheap and dangerous ones on Amazon/Alibaba. As long as you find an adapter that is undergoing the official J3400 certification process, it should be fine. That's just there to cover their ass, so that inevitably, when someone buys a rando adapter off Alibaba and it welds itself to the charger and/or the car, they can say "we told you not to do that!".
You need Google to update Maps to support that, but thst won’t take long I hope…Next question - if I navigate to a newly supported Tesla Supercharger in Google Maps in my Polestar 2, will it precondition the battery for charging?? Or do we have to wait for Google to push out an update for that?
Ok, have a trip this evening. Will have to trick it by navigating to something else in the vicinity I guess. Thanks! You need Google to update Maps to support that, but thst won’t take long I hope…
You can try and let us know! Good luckOk, have a trip this evening. Will have to trick it by navigating to something else in the vicinity I guess. Thanks!
Can confirm that as of this morning, Google Maps still said the Tesla chargers were incompatible, so I just chose a nearby charger as my destination to precondition.Next question - if I navigate to a newly supported Tesla Supercharger in Google Maps in my Polestar 2, will it precondition the battery for charging?? Luckily, my partner has a Chevy Equinox EV, so she already has an official Tesla manufactured adapter we can use. 🎉Can confirm that as of this morning, Google Maps still said the Tesla chargers were incompatible, so I just chose a nearby charger as my destination to precondition.
Probably for the best for the time being, as you won’t be able to charge without an adapter, and those are officially unavailable as of yet.
Ford and Chevy owners are using them, so they definitely work.otoh, maybe Tesla did tell Polestar third-party adapters would be non-functional but then changed their mind! Could’ve been something someone who was fired was supposed to do
That works just as well. It's not like they know the exact position. The car just starts warming the battery and anytime that you charge after that you're going to get the benefit.Ok, have a trip this evening. Will have to trick it by navigating to something else in the vicinity I guess. Thanks!
