Hello All,

I've searched but did not see anyone else posting of a similar experience. Within the past week my P2 has started to have a VERY loud humming noise coming from up front, specifically when I have the AC on blowing cold. Not sure if it matters but this has all been during 100 degree + weather. Just today it was doing it again and it seems to be getting louder and I can start to feel a slight vibration near my feet from the humming itself. As soon as I turn off the fan the noise stops immediately. Another thing that may or not be related is that once I turn the AC off and back on, it takes what feels like a long time to get cool. I know I've read of some other owner's here having AC issues but the loud Humming Sound in particular I've not seen. Anyone else have this issue and know what it might be? Being in Dallas the closest service center is in Austin until the Dallas location opens. Wondering if its something I can ride out or need to get checked out sooner.

Thanks!
Mine started today. Very noticeable, and seems to be connected to the A/C unit and/or fan. The hum disappears when the fan is turned off. From other posts, it appears Polestar is well aware. Ill call in the next day or so.

I started hearing this sound today. It was almost 100 degrees out, and it began while running errands when the car was parked here in and there in the sun. The sound would begin when the car was stopped, and would stop or lessen when the car was moving. This was even after the cabin had cooled and the fans werent running very hard. After parking it in the garage for a while, the sound went away and didnt kick back up again until i drove and parked it in the sun when running more errands. My theory is the hum is the cooling system for the battery working overtime due to the extreme heat when the car isn't moving, and when it is moving, it is passively cooled by the front intake so it's not working as hard. It's pretty alarming, it sounds like being in an ICE car!

So at least in my case, I'm not assuming there's a fault. The cabin still cools just fine.

yeah, i'll address it whenever maintenance comes up. Whoda thunk a car designed by Swedes would have an issue that only pops up in 100 degree weather? :D
Mine behaves exactly the same way...but I'm a 2 hour drive from my "space" so I'll just live with it for a while, unless it gets worse. Generally only happens on really hot days, and I also notice that the bracket makes more noise when going around (allegedly extra-legal speed) 90 degree left hand curves (hmm...) I believe I maybe be low on refrigerant as well, since my coil has frozen up once and AC went out for about 15 minutes until it came back on...

I'll wait for some things to pile up before making a trip over to Austin.

I seem to have this issue as well. I thought it was related to brake grinding issue, since it occurred a few days after I ran into the brake grinding issue. It was a hot day and I fast charged when I noticed this, so it makes sense that this is the cause (and why I could not consistently replicate it).

Had this fixed yesterday.
MUCH better. Was starting to get embarrassing how loud the noise was.
Unfortunately no invoice with part numbers as it was covered by warranty, but they've essentially replaced the air conditioner mount.
HI, IM the PS2 user in CHINA Shanghai, same rumbling noise came up from the floor and stopped if I turned off the AC or lower the fan, solution: back to dealer check if that caused by the AC bracket. it appears on extremely hot weather and long period of driving. sound like the AC is tired... will keep posting

Has anyone successfully had Volvo Palo Alto / Volvo Marin acknowledge and fix this issue?
I got reply, caused by AC mount design defect, because of the heat pump AC after the 2021 model, need change the mount BUT! just temporary solution, and the mount are produced by Sweden, need lead time.... currently my car is parking in retailer and wait... but fortunately, service is not bad they gave me a double motor PS2. KIND OF BALENCE

Just had a call with Volvo Palo Alto and they said they have never heard of this issue. I told them 2 ways to repro:
1/ Increase cooling demand by lowering set temperature
2/ Go to a DC fast charger to charge for 10-15 minutes, unplug and drive

I think they will drive my car back to their home tonight and hopefully they will be able to repro.

Also called Polestar USA at 800-806-2504 (press 1) and they said they have never heard of this either :/

I think they are acting perfunctory to you because this is a global issue, especially on 2021 heat pump AC version PS2, bracket is booked and waiting for correction, will keep post.

please check the Video that retailer sent to me, after AC mount changed, still annoying noise!!!!!! not solved! very upset! and disappointed! AC NOISE

UPDATE
Car was in the local Volvo garage today for this issue to be diagnosed.
Issue was a fault on the dampened\sprung mount for the AC unit. The tech was able to get the car to make the "noise" while the bumper was off and exposing access to the AC, and touching this mount instantly stopped the vibration causing the noise. They've "lubed" the existing mount for the time being which has actually made a big difference. Their initial thoughts was that the heat pump "just makes that kind of noise" (which I wasnt going to accept!), so im glad they found an actual issue.
The fact the replacement part is on back order suggests a few cars have been in with the same issue at other garages id have thought. Unfortunately I didn't get any paperwork detailing the part(s) that have been ordered, but i'll update this thread again once the part has been replaced... hopefully with part numbers to help people in the future point this issue out their local garages.
today in China Shanghai they have removed the old part of the AC mount like this: check the pic

but after changed the new one! still loud noise!still vibration.

I'm glad someone started this thread and read it, because now I know that this noise from the AC isn't "normal". It's pretty darn loud.
I'm in the same boat as you, except my commute to my space is ...... 10 hours. I had the eCALL error due to a
