Confused by this. Only late model 2024 cars? But the website shows that this is also applicable for earlier cars.

@hvidal , what's the source of your screenshot?

And did anyone in the US get the 3.3.16 OTA update?

That late model and release date came from the Volvo release. The Polestar OTA doesn't mention any of that.

Is 3.3.16 an OTA update? The last update on my MY2022 is the 3.1.9 update.
This is what the Polestar website states:

"Polestar continuously develops the systems in its vehicles and the services you are offered. Updating the software in your vehicle can give you access to many new functions and improvements. The vehicle's software can be updated to the latest version via Over-the-Air (OTA) or in connection with service at an authorized Polestar workshop. You will be informed in the center display when new software is available via Over-the-Air (OTA). Go to the app view, then "Settings" (icon), "System" and "Software update" to see the current software version. "

So appears to be an OTA

Thanks, hopefully.

I recall reading about if the has received/skipped 2 OTA updates, then the update needs to be done in the workshop.
I've not received or declined any updates since 3.1.9, I think the version in between 3.1.9 and 3.3.16 were not applicable for my SRSM 2022 MY, let's see.
If I don't get the OTA in the coming weeks, I have my 2nd service booked already for early January 2025.

Since it was Polestar who has not released the earlier updates OTA, and since most of the P*2s are still at Ver 3.1.9, I am hoping that this 3.3.16 update OTA will be for all P*2s, without the limitation of being not more than 2 updates behind.

Yes, they won’t penalize you if they don’t release updates OTA… you only need to visit the workshop if you refuse two OTA.

i reckon that rule exists so that if a car has failed to update twice, then there might be something wrong with it. And if you’ve deliberately refused them, then that’s your problem.

I guess it's good if polestar decides to kill our Internet connection, other than that I don't see much use
My Waze was flaky again this morning. It wouldn't open and said I needed to Refresh which of course did nothing. I typically get it working again by opening it on my phone, setting a destination, then trying to open it again on the car's screen.

If nothing else, AA gives us options when the cars native AAOS is flaky.

Seems universal, I had to also reset my tcam this morning to get the car to talk to the app again. Of course this happens when we get more cold and snow.

Yawn!
With AAOS I would never go back to AA.
Yeah, I find it a bit frustrating I can't get plex\plexamp in AAOS and there's no native USB drive support but other than that I use my car as a car and the infotainment is a minor nuisance I occasionally have to interact with. The only argument I can see for AA support is that owners another 5-10 years could find themselves high and dry if Google pulls the rug on supporting AAOS and you need another way of getting google maps etc to work.

most of those things you shouldn't be fiddling with while driving anyway.
i see no difference in using STT/TTS for the message app and sending a voice message in whatsapp
i see no difference in using ABRP vs. using google maps. even more, ABRP is available in AAOS, but its app is very heavy and the limited HW of P2 has difficulties in giving a smooth experience. i'll let my phone do the heavy lifting and present me a good visual on the central display.
a mail app could've been greyed out as any browser in AAOS, but instead it's simply not there.
i see no difference in using VLC vs. any other media player onboard.
i see no difference in using Polestar charge app on the central display vs. any other charging app on the AAOS play store.
i see no difference in using Pocketbook app to listen to audiobooks vs. any other podcast app on the AAOS play store.

There was a time when ABRP was very valuable, but GM has now gotten to the point where ABRP is not necessary. And I agree that the ABRP in AAOS is so heavy that it's just about unusable for a trip with more than a couple of charging stops.

I wouldn't hold my breath for a mail app that has to be greyed out. There is no way to monetize an app like that for a car. Even things like the weather app can't push ads the same way they can on your phone.
