My car is stuck on 2.2 and the nearest space is booked till March. I’m going going to do the update myself with vida. What would be the easiest way to keep the 12v battery stable during the update so nothing gets bricked?

I've done zero updates on my own, so I'm by no means an expert, but I'd be surprised if a battery tender struggles to keep it juiced up during the update.
You're not running any peripherals like heated seats, lights or air conditioning so the drain should be fairly minimal. It's also a 70 Ah battery. That can power the computer for quite a while on its own.
I hope the update is successful. 2.2 is very old. I think you'll enjoy new features like:
1. Optimised use of the heat pump through increased efficiency and improved utilisation in colder climates (2.3)
2. The range assistant app improvements are really useful I find (2.5 & 2.9 - it's the 2.9 update I really liked the most)
3. When it gets below 10C those front seats auto heat up if you've set a climate timer. NICE! (2.6 I think)
4. From 2.7 onward you can actually tell when you're OTA's are done installing via the app.
5. Loads of Car Play updates on 2.9
There is probably loads more genuinely useful updates you're missing. Definitely worth updating sooner than later.
I have updated 3 separate cars with VIDA, there shouldn't be an issue if you don't connect a charger to your 12 volt. All three cars went from 99% charge of 12 volt to around 85-90% after the update was finished. VIDA itself recommends connecting to a charger though, so I guess it's up to you if you want to take the risk.
when you ran, the updates, did the green connection box intermittently flash, yellow, like it was disconnecting from a module and reconnecting to another one.
Did the voltage display turn red or yellow at all?
did it turn on the headlights or fans at all?
