We recently started getting frequent Android Auto crashes. Not sure if it was related to an OTA upgrade or adding my son as 3rd driver profile or just random. Happens in the middle of driving. Whole system just goes blank and you have to restart while driving!

Welcome to my life. This is happening to me lately more and more, my problem has been exacerbated by the new Google Maps update including 3D maps and probably the higher temps. I had my car booked for checking; however, I couldn't take it to the shop due to an emergency. I hope I can book it again within the next 3 weeks. I will keep you posted. BTW, things I tried:
1) Clean slate of the configuration.
2) Reset all CPUs using OrBit.
3) Remove and re-install Google Maps.
4) AND ONLY WORKING SOLUTION, never navigate using Google Maps in the screen behind the wheel.

Note: Number 4 makes me think it is a IHU.

I have four profiles. Never had a crash since new (+3 yes). Often using dash map.

Talk to your service center if you have this frequently. It shouldn't happen. But I wish the service guy good luck. I bet there will be no problem for him...

I've noticed a lot more crashes / errors since the new year. They mostly seem to have to do with trying to access the cameras. I now more often see the camera error screen as well — 3 times this week. Force restart infotainment fixes it.

In addition, twice this week, and twice last week, I could not connect CarPlay without force restarting the infotainment. I've tried with both my phone and my spouse's phone, neither of which have changed in over a year.

The first round of errors/crashes were experienced before the most recent update, so I'm really not sure what changed.

Last year I definitely went months without having to force restart — I'm quickly approaching more restarts this year than all of last year.
