I see across a few different threads what could be a common technical fault so wanted to open a new thread for others to quickly find and report if able.

@GTN @DDuck @kriand @derezzed all have like me confirmed or think they have the same symptoms as I.

symptoms include:
Visible damage (caused by shorted and melted components) to the front grille
Parking sensor failures
Permanent driver assist warning on dash

This could lead to being hard locked out from the car and/or electrics failing.

The cause is water ingress and corrosion to the front wiring harness that drives all the sensors and aids packed into the front grille.

I would also check and share the manufacture date sticker on the drivers door. Based on how similar your VINs are they were most likely on the same assembly line around the same time. You may be able to tie it to a specific timing window which could help Polestar with a recall (and help others in the forum be proactive about going to Polestar before theirs gets worse.)

I have issues with parking sensor and they finally found the cause: corrosion in front wiring harness. Strange thing is that I have had this issue on and off since taking delivery in sept. 24.

Currently waiting for parts, which are on back order with unconfirmed delivery date 🙁

I am unable to find my manufacturing date, but vin is pretty close to those already listed here

Same issue here identified when I took in the car for a software update (see my other comments).

Car's been in for over a week now, but currently waiting to see what their approach is going to be - the technician was prepared to do a replacement job on all the corroded pins (which are due to arrive this week) but now he's been told to wait by Polestar to see whether they're going to try something else?

Ultimately he thinks either it'll be a simple replacement job followed by a recall for a more permanent fix, or he'll have to keep hold of it until Polestar tell him what else to do.

Not great really - pretty frustrating as I'm paying for a lease that I'm unable to use - on the plus side the lease company sorted out a hire pretty effortlessly.

Thanks all for sharing. My pickup is scheduled for this month and my VIN ends in the 1500s (serial number) which is in line with a few posted in this thread, but mine doesn’t start with “YSMYKE” 🤔 I’m not an expert on VINs and all the explanations online are slightly different =\ At any rate, I’ll let you all know how it goes once I’ve had mine for a little while! How long were you in possession before the parking sensors started acting up?

Unfortunately I also have water damage in my smart zone front area and it looks identical to the damage posted. I'm from Ontario Canada and waiting to hear back from the service center on a fix since last week.

Sorta related but I'm also getting intermittent suspension failure errors. Got it fixed last week by service who said it was due to large amounts of dirt/debris/ sand in the suspension (I imagine from all the snow melt etc sand/salt droppings)

The suspension which normally feels like driving on a cloud, instead felt like I was constantly driving over rumble strips.

Now the warmer weather is here and the water damage shows up and I've had the suspension error come back again after just washing it. It's a lovely car to drive but I don't want to have to service my car everytime some dirt gets into the wheel wells or water knocks out the sensors. I love the car and have over 11,000 km since taking delivery late November

Thank you for being a trooper and checking 🫶🏽 I can’t decipher but I’d hoped it would be more obvious. My handover is scheduled for this Friday so I’ll ask. I also just texted my salesperson to see if the service center can pre-inspect for water ingress. I’m supposed to go there tomorrow morning to give ‘em my money so I’ll bring it up then as well. “I’d love to sign these forms and pay you but can you first tell me if there’s water damage on this $93k car? Thanks so much…”

Update:

The wiring corrosion extends further into the car, there's a big issue.

They're requesting parts from p*/Volvo but neither of them will give any form of estimate - apparently the parts need to be hand made????

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if a massive recall kicks off - the fella from Volvo made it sound like they're aware of this issue spreading.

Water sealing a car in 2025 - apparently it's a tough job... 🫠
