With either Google devices at home or using my phone, can I tell Google to preheat the car?
I know I can use the phone app but just wanna see if I can do it using the assistant.
Thanks in advance.

I have not been able to get it too, I have Nest Hub and the little pucks and it'll translate my questions into web searches for the topics but it will not tell me the battery level, I may not be using the right sequence of words but 'what's the polestars charge level' or 'what is the charging level of Alnitak (car name)' and doesn't work.

K good to know.
Maybe if it's possible someone will mention it.
No biggie , as the app is on my phone , eventually I can figure out a screen macro program, routines and trigger words.
I like using voice commands alot as I have a smarthome. Hehe
its not possible at this time, but at CES this year it was discussed and announced that it was coming.

in the mean time, you do have the ability to use the google assistant in the car to control other smart home devices linked to your home such as turning on the AC or lights when you get home, maybe opening the garage if its compatible.

I'm sure others will have more detailed info, but from what I've read and experienced, if you're signed in to the same Google account in the car, you can ask Google in the car to perform actions in your home, but not the reverse. IOW, you can ask Google in the car to turn on lights in your house, but you cannot ask Google in the house to do anything with the car.... yet.

I suspect there might be some authentication concerns that would need to be addressed before home voice control of the car is possible. and just guessing that there are more pressing items that we all want such as features in the app. so although I'd love it (hey google is my polestar locked, hey google condition my polestar, etc), I'm not holding my breath. I would love to be wrong on this.

It was indicated by Volvo (and by Polestar on the official Facebook page) that Assistant control over the car, was something being worked on. They've said nothing about it since Volvo released this video. 😕

Control of things within the home (other than routines) works fine. I even made a short video of turning on our oven.

They never really gave a timeframe on this, did they? At the time I think we had assumed this would be part of the AAOS 11 upgrade.

Can confirm, I was able to add my car to assistant and ask it to warm up my car. Nice thing is that it sends a notification when it succeeds/fails (failed for me, but I park underground where there's no service so that's expected).

Volvo and Polestar are the only options when adding a car, so I guess this is a totally new thing on Google's side.

As someone down under, I'm very jealous I can't get it to show or set it up!

Out of interest, is it this service?

If I try opening that link link manually, I can't link my account on iPhone - the link does nothing.
(and using a US VPN made no difference)

Volvo ones are either;

Cool, managed to get it to work; changing region and language to English (United States) worked fine, and I could get my Nest Hub to cool down my car.
Sadly as soon as I changed things back to English (Australia), they no longer work.

Hoping this doesn't take forever to expand outside the US.

Just did it also. Thanks for the great info! Hopefully when I get back to the airport tomorrow I can tell the Assistant to warm up my car...and then the power update will show up on the drive back to the house. That would be a wonderful Friday. 😁

FYI, I just asked my phone if my car doors were locked. Interesting that wit's response was:

Here's what I got from Polestar: about 35 minutes ago, your doors were locked.

So I'm guessing it just interacts with what has been cached on the back end when querying. I even modified the query to "Are my car doors locked now?" and it still gave me the 35 minute old status. It will be fun to play with this, and it might also give us some insight into how the back end works.

My guess is that when the car is "on" it sends a status update every few minutes to Polestar, and Google is just reading from that.

It'd explain why despite parking in a garage with no service the Polestar app occasionally shows battery SoC for me - there's some caching happening on Polestar's side so that the car doesn't have to stay in constant communication when off.

I did get back this morning and my tests worked well. I asked from my phone to heat up the car and it said it would notify my once it started the climate precondition (don't remember the exact words). I then checked from the app and saw the climate was on. About 10 seconds later I got a notification. When I got to the car it was preconditioned. I also played some with the systems from my Google Home/Nest devices. Asking for battery status and such. Primary was my Sonos Move in my home office with Assistant built in. Worked well, and would give me battery SoC and predicted range as well as the time the last status was reported so you know how old the cached data was. I'm pretty impressed. :)
