Intelligent Octopus Go no longer intelligent with Zappi charger

Not Polestar-specific, but wondering whether others here have an issue with Intelligent Octopus Go in conjunction with a Zappi charger?

My setup used to work perfectly OK until a few weeks ago, when the Octopus app started reporting my car as unplugged when the charger was in fact connected. Initially I assumed it was just a temporary glitch, but eventually I got in touch with Octopus support, who acknowledged that this is "a known issue with some Zappi integrations" and recommended setting up a manual charging schedule. So I did this in the car, for 6 hours from 23:30 to 05:30, and it works OK, but the situation is nevertheless unsatisfactory because: a) I don't benefit from the additional 'dynamic' cheap-rate periods that normally come with Intelligent Octopus Go, and b) Octopus is unable to use my system to help with smart grid control.

The other day I asked Octopus support for an update. Reply from Octopus:

"Thank you for reaching out to us again, and I apologise for the ongoing inconvenience with the Octopus app. I understand how frustrating it must be to see your car showing as unplugged, especially after our previous correspondence. To help escalate this issue for you, could you please reply to this email with a screenshot showing the error on your app? This will assist us in investigating the matter further. Thank you for your patience, and I look forward to your response."

I said I wasn't sure a screenshot would add much, but I sent the attached 'collage' to illustrate the situation.

Any comments?

Thank you.

Mine stopped working several weeks ago and the resolution was to disconnect the ‘device’ in the app and then reconnect it - as on the website

Seems to be working fine ever since

Sounds promising, thanks.

Not sure about 'as on the website', but I found a device disconnect option in the Octopus app, see screenshot below, so I'm about to do that 🤞

Great. So the honeymoon is over. After 6 months of blissful plugging in and getting a great charging schedule I suddenly got an “Unable to control your device” message from the Octopus app when I went to charge the car last night.

I variously unplugged and re-plugged the car, disconnected and re-connected the charger in the Octopus app and re-booted the charger. All to no avail. Tried a bump charge and got “Uh oh, something went wrong. We can’t do this right now. Please check that your car is plugged in.” It was plugged in the the Zappi had a nice pink lightning bolt. I did notice that the Zappi was locked but I'm sure this only happened after I reset it.

I scheduled a charge in the Polestar app OK (but not quite to the 90% I wanted), have emailed Octopus and am waiting for them to get back to me. Hopefully, it'll get fixed as being able to put the tumble dryer on early was a great boon. I'll try another IO smart charge tonight and see what happens.

(no point to this post other than a bit of a rant )

Edit the next night; Octopus said something else was trying to control the charging. It wasn't so clearly just some glitch in the matrix as its all working again tonight.
