If it is hidden behind the top bar how is it distracting and dangerous? I’ve had the journey log installed since day it was released and have never found it distracting or dangerous. I have to remember to go in to the journey log to adjust the journey from private to commute etc.

 

Yes, you can disable the app from showing this messages. I did and also found them distracting because it made me ignore them and missed other more important messages.

Journal fails to work for me after a few days and the only way to figure this out is that this notification is missing so I can start it again.

It happens often enough for me to consider it unfit for purpose (which is true for most of the Android side of the car) as I end up missing many trips until I realise it’s not working, even with the notification enabled to make it a bit more obvious.

 

Only had one failure which was on the day I had not LTE. I know it’s linked to Google Maps but wondering why they couldn’t just have a simpler version which ran of the auto trip meter.

 

Mine missed some journeys when it was first released but it’s been solid since. It behaves in odd ways although there’s some mildly tricky choices being made. For example, what a journey is - does it stop if you pull up to post a letter or do a quick errand? Or not capturing small journeys, I think it’s consistently not capturing anything less than 1km or so which is sort of reasonable until you stop near home to do a errand and that becomes your journey end. And that annoys me when I look at the data. Or, why it’s not recording the odometer reading or the SOC. Or why it’s not capturing charging?

 

All valid points and the answer is it’s just a disappointingly bad product to tick a box as it was a feature promised at launch. Not much thought appears to have went into it than ticking that box.

The fact that you can’t rely on it being accurate makes it pointless for the intended purpose regardless of how feature rich it is or isn’t.

 

I agree - it is utterly hopeless - in 600 or more of miles of recent journeys, it recorded less than 200. Very sporadic indeed.

 

I've driven about 1350km and only have about 900km recorded. So yeah, fairly useless.

 

I find the app is only logging about 2/3 of my journeys. This is frustrating because I am actually keen to get a log of my journeys. Who do we speak to either get this one improved or identify another similar app that is more reliable?
