New Polestar Spaces in US (or did they give up)?

I haven't heard anything for a long time about new Spaces in the US. Near the end of 21, there was a lot of talk about expansion. I think there was a little expansion in 2022, but not much. Now I'm not hearing anything about further expansion. It feels like they've given up and haven't been able to reach deals with different Volvo dealers.

Has anyone heard anything in the last 6 months about new Spaces coming in the US?

Before I bought my car in April 2021, the Miami Space was the ONLY listed Space in Florida and was "Coming Soon." There are now four other open Spaces in Florida and the Miami Space is /still/ listed as "Coming Soon." Methinks there is a discrepancy in the meaning of "Soon" between Polestar and myself.

I think they may be having more issues with the franchise Volvo dealers. I know they recently opened San Diego "space" which currently amounts to a pop up at a mall with a separate "independent" service center connected to the same group that handles South Coast (rather than any of the local Volvo dealers). I'm not sure if the service center is open yet.

That is nice, but not reassuring. I want to see Polestar setting up new relationships in other parts of the country. Expanding already existing relationships doesn't show significant progress.

As an insider, do you have any insight into expansion outside of your group?

I've heard in the North Carolina and South Carolina area is supposed to grow. With the P3 wave 2 going to be built there they are pushing for a stronger presence on the east coast. I think once the larger dealer groups like Autonation and Hendricks dives in you'll see more growth. If Hendricks which is a name I've heard in conversation, it'll be nearby their Volvo dealership.

As far as current relationships that are expanding, it's actually a good sign. We are not the only dealer group that is expanding the number of Polestar stores. If it wasn't a good brand to have a badge of then the groups wouldn't grow the number of facilities they have.

Respectively our two stores are #1 and #2 in the US as we go back and forth on who tops who, but also work really well between both stores as a solid team. I'll poke around and see what I can find out for you as I'm putting together an all Polestar Autocross event for March. If anyone from Polestar corporate attend I'll inquire about that.

One opened in Naples, Florida in late June / early July. when I ordered my ‘23 P2 back in May 5, it was assigned to Ft. Lauderdale space. I received the first ‘23 in Florida on September 13 (they drove it to my house, 90 miles).

Charlotte is opening up a Polestar show room in SouthPark beside the Steak 48 restaurant soon, according to folks at University Volvo when I was there last Monday. They're going to get a Polestar 3, but won't be allowed to do test drives - it will be locked in "port mode".

I live in South-east Florida. When I bought my car 2 years ago, the only Space in Florida was the then-announced but not yet open Miami location. Since then, 4 other Florida Spaces have opened and Miami is still listed as "Coming Soon."

OMG, it's worse than I imagined.

Today, my PS2 received sw update for the performance enhancement which I purchased. The OTA update failed and I received a message that vehicle requires service before update can be applied. I am already on 2.7 which did load OTA.

I bought my PS2 used, so I have never been to a Space. I live in the burbs west of Philadelphia. I know there is a Space in Princeton so I figure I will schedule service there. It not convenient, but is doable. No big deal, right?

I now go to the app to schedule service. Huh, my nearest service center is in ... Manhatten, NY? I then start looking at the service FAQs. Apparently, most "Spaces" are retail locations only. I did try calling the Princeton location to confirm this, nobody answered the phone.

This is insane. I live within 20 miles of 4 different, well regarded, Volvo dealers. Manhattan is hours, and $25 in toll roads, away. Philadelphia is something like the 4th largest city in the USA, yet people need to go into NYC for service? I am suddenly wondering if I made a mistake in buying a Polestar.

Service points and retail locations aren’t the same thing although the term “Space” still applies.
I’d call Polestar Princeton and ask for service. The US headquarters are in NJ so I figure there must be a service point closer to you than Manhattan

bah, I may not bother with a 4 if Raleigh/Durham area doesn't get one. We had a minor collision and waiting for parts, and then having to have it towed to Charlotte to get a re-calibration is not worth it. I do really like the car and miss not having it, but man. I can get an Audi e-tron sportback 5 miles from the house instead.

On the other hand the damage is already done with the resale value, basically costs you close to nothing to keep it at this point.... buying something else and jumping off the depreciation cliff again is much more expensive than keeping what you have. Even if service isn't great, the car goes in once every 2 years.... most of the issues we have with our cars are annoying but don't stop the car from being functional for transportation

I know this is late but they just added one in Lisle Illinois. Part of their Volvo dealership. Polestar is planning on adding at least a second one in Chicago proper in like February, I think. Expansion is happening just took longer then expected.

In Lisle the service manager is Rachel and very nice.
