Polestar 2 - car can’t detect all keys

I bought my Polestar 2 almost two months ago. The car has been great but I have unfortunately inherited some issues.

I bought my car secondhand from a dealership and was told that it only came with one activity key and one main key after I had paid! I have now realised that the previous owner lost one of the main activity keys and didn’t make the dealership aware of this.

This meant that I couldn’t connect my car to the Polestar app, remove the previous owner’s details from the vehicle or factory reset the car.

I contacted Polestar and took it to Volvo and I was told that it was missing a main key and would need a software installed to remove the key, a factory reset and for the keys that I have to be recoded.

I finally got round to having it done today, and was told that the car was fine. I have tried to connect my car to the Polestar app again and it has not worked. I now get an error message that says “Make sure all 2 keys are present in the car and try again”.

I have tried to factory reset the car again but it can’t find all the keys, which I put in the cup holder.

I have watched countless videos, I have tried to call Volvo and contact Polestar but I have not been able to get through to anyone.

Has anyone else had this issue?

It's not all two keys: the message you are seeing is stage 2 of the pairing process, 'Make sure all keys are present', so my first thought is that either:

1. The missing key has not been removed (why they told you it needed a software update and recode is beyond me, it just needs the additional key removed), or

2. You have a dead activity key - did you place the keys in the cupholder (the one inside the cubby)? Make sure the activity key is on the base as even with a dead battery, it's NFC tag should still read.

If that doesn't help, and assuming you're not bothered about the activity key remaining waterproof, you can change the battery by opening the casing - there are instructions somewhere on here...

However, first thing I would be doing is going straight back to the Volvo shop and get them to pair the phone with you (should really have done this before driving away)...
